I just joined AM while at our winter home in Thailand. Back in our home in Oregon I have friends to jam and learn with but since I only have a bicycle here so find it difficult to get together with other players. So I am excited to meet friends here on AM and share ideas, challenges, etc.
I played a lot as a teenager/young adult and just started again after 45 years. My main challenge is focusing on a few things rather than jumping from one genre and song to another like a glutton at a smorgasbord. It’s also challenging to find the right place to restart my study and practice since I can’t decide where I fit on the beginner/intermediate spectrum. Oh, I like fingerpicking styles and blues. Greatly appreciate any support and advice from members here!

Hey Andy welcome to AM.
Where to start in active melody has stumped many on joining. What I did was pick a song of Brian’s at the level I thought I was at and learn it, after that it was easy to find a lesson for the level I was really at..hahaha
I’m sure others will come along soon with better advice to your questions, support is the main stay of the forum, so you will get plenty of that.
Looking forward to hearing you play.

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum and site. Well, we are almost neighbors. Just east of you. I wanted the wife and I to move to Thailand also, but she refused. I’m sure a lot has changed since I was stationed there in the military.
Again welcome aboard.
Playing music on the guitar is like sculpturing your soul with musical notes. 🙂 6stringer pete
When we look at things from above we get a different perspective of the world "to be generous is to be above all" It means to be able to absorb everything so that they can complement one another.
Our members here on the forum see and feel that this is the great spirit of Active Melody

Thank u you for your reply. You should just visit here someday. We’re in the far north in Chiang Rai where there is a pretty good music scene.
I’m quite overwhelmed by the volume of material on this site. I’ll dig around until I find a good places for me to start and to concentrate my effort.
Thank you for the encouragement.

welcome Andy. You’re right, the volume of great material here can be overwhelming. Best is to pick something that really resonates with you and dig into it.
ps, one of my favourite guitarists is from Thailand – Vinai T.

Welcome Andy. One of my long-time friends (an American German) married a Thai woman and they moved from Germany to her village near Chiang Rai. He recently became a Buddhist monk, and is learning to speak Thai.
