They sound really good in this demo. Would love to hear an A/B demo comparing this new line to previous ID Series TVP

At 368 pounds for the twenty watt that is some bargain in my book. Blackstar are sure worthy of being a force in the amp world. Its great innovation well executed as far as I can see. If I needed a new amp I would be taking a deep interest in these.
thanks for posting

I’ve seen several vids on these, and it seems like they are firmly in the THR/Katana camp of keeping things simple (and may have staked their claim there first). But I can’t find anything which shows or explains the true differences between this line and what came before. More processing power is implied (but unclear why it was needed or what it does).
I’m holding out right now for the Fractal FM-3, which seems to be on the slowest boat ever from China.

Blackstar introduced their ID Series TVP amps 10-11 years ago and I’m pretty sure that they predate the Yamaha THR amps
From a Blackstar FB group, here are some of the differences between the new Silverline and the ID Series TVP amps
* Blackstar’s state-of-the-art Silverline models have the intuitive control of a traditional amp with the huge benefit of being fully programmable.
* The new high-performance SHARC® DSP platform runs algorithms that recreate analogue circuit parameters with supreme accuracy right down to component level.
* These are not modelling amps in the usual sense of the word, They don’t try to model other amps and have no modeled amp presets etc. Silverline amps provide stunning boutique “valve tone” on a highly powerful and flexible digital platform which offer you the tools to personally create any sound you desire.
* The Silverline series have taken the previous TVP amps and re engineered them to lift them to a whole new level.
* They have a new TVP style section ( now named “Response”) which has been totally re engineered from the ground up, and has been redesigned to work perfectly together with a newly designed cab with its Pro V-Type Celestion speakers.
* The whole package has been re designed to offer a lighter weight too, which makes them even more portable and “back friendly” than before.
* The amps now have stunning new boutique styling with top mounted controls and new silver Blackstar logo.
* Obviously the amps still have the Patented ISF control which sweeps from American to British tone.

From my experience with digital Blackstar amps, I have to say: stay away from them! Blackstar is unable to provide suitable software for their digital amps. The ID series suffered from missing updates for almost 3 years and anyone with a Mac with macOS High Sierra or higher and many Windows users were unable to connect their amplifiers to the computer. No support in the meantime or – even worse – just rude replies and deletion of posts in the Blackstar forum.
The Insider software received an update with the release of the Silverline amplifiers, but it is still a shitty piece of sh*t. All of this would not be a big problem if most of these amps wouldn’t need this software to select a good sound, since many parameters are only accessible via the Insider app. Better use a Katana or Yamaha THR (or digital Fenders/Marshalls, etc).BTW: I’m selling a Blackstar ID:Core BEAM and a ID:15TVP. Haha! 😉
