A few years ago, I wrote a song, cLled “Party People (This train ain’t stopping at the station” after seeing some riots on TV. Some protestors had a genuine grievance, but then there were the people who just used the genuine protest as an excuse for looting, fighting etc..
I had lyrics and melody, but could not work out the chords to play it over.
Then last year, I listened to Brian’s backing track for EP184, and it just came to me that my melody fitted over the backing track perfectly. So last year, I played the melody over it, and posted it at this link:
This year, I have just sung it over last year’s lead over Brian’s backing track! Here it is:
And here are my lyrics!
Title: Party People (train aun’t stopping at the station
I see all those low-down people,
Fighting on my TV screen,
Sitting here, I shed a tear,
They make me want to shout and scream!
Look at all those full-on people,
Chasing after their next buck.
All the time, forever climbing,
If you fall then that’s hard luck!
I wish we all were Sunshine people!
Dancing in the parks and streets,
Fly our rockets to the stars,
It’s time to make this World complete!
Don’t wait here; this train ain’t stopping, stopping at the station.
Wait another year, and pretty soon, you’ll be on vacation.
