Hello All,
As many of you know I live in Alaska. My state is huge and is very diverse ethnically, geographically, and culturally. I have never found a place in my travels to date that is similar to Alaska. Maybe parts of remote Canada or Russia? I haven’t been there though.
I recently traveled to Barrow, Alaska for business. I was literally at the top of the world. We are designing a new aircraft hangar for the new 80 foot helicopter the Barrow Search and Rescue operation is purchasing from the City of Tokyo.
The Native Alaska Iñupiat people of Barrow still hunt and eat whale. They also eat walrus, seal, fish, and birds. This is how they have survived for thousands of years. They are allowed and protected to do so by the US government. It is a huge part of their culture.
My photos are of the town and my experiences. Like $7.00/Gallon of gas, interesting houses, Snow on the beach, or $18 bread sticks with Ranch.
Photo Album (Make sure when you click on the individual pictures you click the “i” with a circle at the upper right hand corner as I have put captions to the photos.) : https://goo.gl/photos/eFHmvfGqgCRq1kvZ7
I thought some members might find it interesting to see the part of the world. Hope all is well with you all!

Thanks for sharing these pictures with us Bryce. Very interesting. The prices are insane. Pizza, bread sticks and monkey brain (for real?) for the price of a delicacy. The Inuit have no other choice than catching whales if they don’t want to starve.

For the record it is not real monkey brain. 🙂 It was just a dish at the Chinese food place. But you would believe it if you were there. 😉

Bryce,
First of all, it sounds like you do very interesting work and design!
I really enjoyed the pictures very much. I’m fascinated by unique places in the world and this is certainly one of them. Alaska is on my travel list. Although I am not a ‘cruise’ person, I have heard that the Alaskan cruises are beautiful.
Thanks again for sharing your trip.
Cheers. -

Thanks for sharing your pictures Bryce. It’s always fascinating to get a glimpse of what life is like in different places. Your pictures have captured that well.
Hi Debra, you’re right about Alaskan cruises. My wife and I cruised Alaska a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Glacier Bay National Park is spectacular.

Hey Bryce,
The name Barrow, Alaska sounded familiar to me and I was right. Barrow was the setting for a 2007 vampire horror movie called “30 Days of Night”. When I think back, it seems they had the town scenery pretty close to your pictures. If you enjoy a gory horror movie,I would recommend it.

No Vampires in Barrow. I checked. 🙂
Great place for a vampire movie plot because it doesn’t get sunlight for over a month in the winter. On the flip side the sun doesn’t set in the summer for around that length of time.
Anchorage is not as extreme. We still get about 5 hours of light on the winter solstice and twilight of about a hour or so on either side of that. You get used to it. That or you move. Lol.
I love Alaska. No where else exactly like it.

Some nice pictures Bryce. I mention that I’d be posting some pictures also of my getting around southern Japan for the last 3 months, well, I will once I get the pictures on this new computer, hopefully in a day or so. Not sure how that google pictures work though. Is it easy to use and upload or should I upload them on Box.com?
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete
