Anyone else here want to make this a movie discussion post? I would think some of us would like a little off topic movie discussion and, of course, it’s fun!!!

I recently got addicted to watching kung fu movies on YouTube. But movies in general, haven’t sat down and watched one in years.
What’s a good movie to watch on YouTube, I’ll check it out.
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I don’t know if any of these are available in full on YouTube but Enter The Dragon, Return of The Dragon, Chinese Connection, Fist of Legend, and Kung Fu Hustle are all great Kung Fu movies if you’re looking for more.
Bruce Lee is absolutely the best in my opinion and stars in the first three I mentioned. Fist of Legend is an homage or somewhat a remake to Chinese Connection and stars Jet Li. Kung Fu Hustle is a little far out there and more recent but very cool and a little fantastical.
Really good Kung Fu movies are hard to beat!!

Been watching all the ones in the 70’s. Cool stuff.
But any American movies that you can recommend. I haven’t been to a movie theater in about 30 years.
And TV, well, I just don’t really watch it at all, but for the English news. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

There are a few recent American movies that are great.
‘No Country for Old Men’ is an excellent Coen Brothers directed movie (won some Oscars) w/ Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, and Javier Bardem. It’s kind of a modern Western or at least has a West Texas / New Mexico setting. I remember people walking out of the theater just bashing the ending but I thought it was really different and cool. The movie is greatness!!
‘Zero Dark Thirty’ is another great movie that came out last year about the CIA intelligence operative and US Navy Seal team finding Bin Laden. The same woman who directed ‘The Hurt Locker’ and who was married to James Cameron directed this one. It is arguably either the best film or second best film from last year. Highly recommended.
The other best film from last year IMO would be ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. This one has Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro and was shot in Philadelphia. Here’s a quick synopsis: “After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.” Despite the description, the movie is a lot better than it sounds. It’s really good.
A lot of people don’t like Woody Allen movies but he made probably his best one a few years back called ‘Midnight in Paris’. The story is so good I had to watch it again immediately when it came out on DVD. Owen Wilson is a writer vacationing in Paris w/ his a$$ of a fiancee and her parents. Looking for inspiration, he starts to walk the streets of Paris at night and finds that a certain street corner at midnight transports him to a golden age of great and famous writers living in Paris. Awesome!!
I had another one but can’t remember right now. As soon as I think of it I’ll add it to this post. Anyway, those are more recent movies I’d highly recommend.

Gravity
Anyone seen the movie yet? Critics are saying this is a great movie but it only has a single tagline with not much else to be said until it opens. One critic said it was possibly the best movie she’d ever seen.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
