Hello,
many thanks for all the interesting statements about Fingerpicking. Everyone has its own Style and kind of technique - and that
s right. I myself need metal Fingerpicks for Steel-Strings for loudness, for a clearly audible Bassline and because of my brittle Nails. (Nylon-Strings need a warm tone without picks, but an Amp or Microfone for Volume.) I have tried so many different types of picks (Foto), but I prefer now the classical Dunlop 013. Only using a thumb-Pick or sticking-on artificial Nails could perhaps be a compromise. Also very important for Picking is the kind of Guitar and the technique to play it. My Hoyer-Acoustic Guitar from 1974 has a low range of strings and is excellent suitable for Strumming. But for Picking would be better a some higher range. (Frets 1 – 3 make sometimes “plob”) Therefore I often use a Capo for Picking. (and I should better avoid Barre at the low frets) Anyway – nobody is perfect and most important is, to have fun. Here another little Rag.Dieter
