Hi everyone! I skipped the previous challenge, so this challenge I tried to compose a backing track and play something simple and melodic over it: but I’m not a very good composer, so eventually, I must confess, I gave up and borrowed the chords and structure composition from an Italian song that I used to play often when I was young: I put together the backing track with Band in a Box and my rhythm acoustic guitar and then played some simple melodies over it.
The intro and outro are vaguely inspired to lesson EP510, anyway something based on descending intervals of 6th. Then, the verse is strongly inspired to the EP404 (Dikey Betts style): this style is the main inspiration for my rendition. The first chorus cycle is strongly related to the vocals melody of the original song, whereas the second chorus repetition is a very short fragment of a bluesy improvisation.
In the video’s background I put some photos I took in the recent short (4 days) vacation I and my wife took at the beginning of May in Roma (she never visited it before, and she was happy to see for the first time our beautiful capital). So, even If I can’t honestly say that the composition is mine (even though YouTube didn’t raise any copyright disclaimer!), I gave it the very original (😂) title of “Roman Holiday” (like the old movie with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck). Besides, for pure coincidence, in Italy today is also the National Day “Festa della Repubblica” (Republic Day) and there is a big celebration in Roma, so one more reason for the piece’s title! Ciao!Guido
