Good day to all,
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well. At last the UK lockdown is over and we can go to the guitar shops and get a haircut.
I found it difficult to come up with much on this challenge – so it’s short and (hopefully) sweet. The volume balance between the backing track and lead was a bit awkward for this recording, but I think I may have it sorted for the next one.
The link is belowHope you like it, I look forward to your comments and all the other submissions,

Well done, Mike.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Mike, that was really nice with the backing track. You stayed in time and did not rush it (I will get there one day). Nice job. Glad the UK is getting back to normal. It is kind of weird here in the U.S., getting used to being around people again. Cheers to you. Pap

Hey Mike, you must tell me where that guitar shop is where you can get a haircut! Anyway that was a nice, sharp trim rendition, oh , and is there anything that you need for the weekend Sir?

Thanks Phil – my weekend is occupied listening to all these splendid submissions, but nice of you to ask!

Well I wasn’t expecting that. Nicely played. Your playing skill is excellent, but the backing track sounds kind of tinny and muted on my speakers. As you said, that’s something to get sorted for next time. As for the haircut, you’ve gone this far already, so you might as well go for the full pony tail – Derek Trucks style. That way it’s easier to take care of, and you only have to cut it once a year.

Thanks Steve. Too late – the potential ponytail is now strewn on the hairdresser’s floor.

Your notes and triads following the chord changes nicely, that is one of the biggest hurdles. I really liked the note selection at the end.

That was a unique take and I really enjoyed that Mike. Those harmonised 6ths at the start gave it a sort of relaxed Hawaiian feel and I particularly liked that descent and resolution to the F, I might have to ‘acquire’ that 🙂

Many thanks Andy. I acquired that little progression from Peter Green, so it’s a good one to pass on.

Thanks Tim – I think it’s a good job the piece was so short or the melody would have drifted off too far.

Sweet, jazzy and on the spot for this challenge, Mike! Very well done. I even think the sound of the backing track – if not intentionally so – gave a certain Charme and vintage feeling to the tune. I liked it very much! 👍🏽

Thanks J. The guitar is a Peerless Gigmaster that I bought second hand. I believe Peerless used to make guitars for Gibson/Epiphone in Korea. It has Epiphone pickups, but I can’t remember the Gibson model that it copies.

Really nice Mike! I think this challenge was right in your wheelhouse. Perfect for the tones you’ve been getting out of that guitar.
