This is my attempt at EP289 with EP139, two jazzy lessons I really like.

Brian, what can I say but flawless. Those two numbers were well matched for a relaxing atmosphere on Sunday afternoon. If you’d had a brushed snare and a double bass accompanying, you could have charged for the privilege of listening.

Outstanding performance, Brian. Smooth and mellow all the way on two jazz pieces played back to back. And, with not a single mistake. A very enjoyable set that kept my interest all the way. I agree with Richard completely on this! Thanks for submitting these!!

That was very emotional, Brian. The sound and groove was very pleasant.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Wow, Brian. This sounds like a pro (yes, a pro) demonstrating how a Fender blackface amp can sound so beautiful with the clean tone of a Strat and with a tremolo. I tried the first one and it wasn’t easy, but you played it flawlessly (again with a pure heavenly tone). Very very nice.

Beautifully played, Brian. Your strat sounded gorgeous. I’m curious about the guitar. It looks like a vintage style with a tinted neck, not your typical strat. Is it a Fender custom shop?

Hi John. Thanks for your kind remarks. The Strat is a vintage ’62 model but not Custom Shop. I bought it in 1998 one day on my lunch break from the office when I was just looking round the guitar shops and I thought she looked so beautiful hanging on the wall there was no way I was leaving without her! The Fiesta Red colour is prettier I think than the slightly orange appearance in the video. I believe Fender’s current 60s reissue is a ’65 but the 62 has an advantage I think in using the rosewood slab board rather than the curved rosewood veneer they adopted in the mid 60s. It is very different in feel of course from a modern American Strat.

That was great. I played 139 a couple of years ago, but had forgotten about it. I think you gave a lovely, soulful rendition of it. As others have said, the tone from your Strat is just gorgeous.
