Hey Garret, it looks like your video is marked private. I think you need to mark it public on youtube.

You attempted what I believe to be a catchy but difficult piece. I’m still trying to get my fingers around it so this was a bravura effort and you deserve credit for that. Keep practising.

Its obvious that its a work in progress that has come along way and right on the verge of the total fluency that the practice strives for. So Great, well done, and when you get there I am sure we should all love to hear an updated version as you have collected all the ingredients for making a fine rendition of it.

That’s a nice sounding guitar piece. I enjoyed my listen. Was that ep351? I guess it was, that looks like a hard lesson! You did fine.
P.S. If you mark the youtube video “not for kids” then comments are turned on.

This was my first challenge and I am glad I took it on thanks to the encouragement of Jeff Davis. It was certainly a challenge. The reality of the situation was I accepted this challenge one week before it was due on Sunday night. I practiced hard every day and made solid progress. That damn Barre cord progression needs some work. So Sunday rolls around and my wife and I started painting one room and then we said let’s paint another room. Luckily I had this take video’d from earlier and threw it up just before the deadline last night. Project done so I can get back to my guitar practice! Thanks for all the encouragement out there. I am amongst some great talent in the AM community. Gotta have a dream👍🏼

Thanks John,
I was shooting for that fluency for sure. My Sunday of practice before submitting got derailed by painting 2 bedrooms. haha. I know it will take more than one day to get better. Got work to do but fun to watch my own progress.Love the AM program and community of talent and support👍🏼Garret

Hey Garret, That’s a great job on a tough piece. You made amazing progress in just one week. And the tone on that Taylor is beautiful. Keep up the good work and welcome to the AM community!

Well done, Garrett! I still avoid the finger picking songs as they are so challenging, so kudo’s.

You just kind of jumped right in the middle of it with one of the more difficult pieces to learn. But you did a really good job! Keep up the good work!

Yay, Garret, good job. You’ve got all the notes, and if you keep playing for a few more days, you’ll have the tempo and timing well under control. I would suggest trying to play the whole thing at a slower but steady pace. It will sound stupid to you played so slow, but that’s the way most of us learn a lesson. A famous music teacher once said that when you are learning a lesson, if you are playing it fast enough that people can recognize what you’re playing, then you’re playing it too fast. Food for thought.

Hi Garret! Welcome to the challenges!
Well played! (difficult lessons!) I love your determination and excitement about your guitar playing journey. I also started about 3 years ago and my excitement has been steadily fueled by Brian and his Active Melody lessons – and especially the challenges. They help so much in the long run, more than I expected. Keep them coming 🙂🎸JoLa

Well done, everything was there that should be offered. Not an easy track. Stay tuned and healthy!
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

You picked a tricky lesson and did a good job on it
Accuracy over speed and the fluency will come, these challanges bring out the best in us having a goal at the end of the month. The amount of progress you see month on month with regulars is heart-warming.
Well done

Thanks for the encouragement. Those cord shapes that include the pinky finger are more challenging. Pinky needs a brain! haha

Hey Sunjmar, Thanks for the great tip on slowing down. That is helping. Still lots of work and repetition. Just about driving myself crazy playing over and over and over again but progress is being made👍🏼
