Hi AMers,
I did some more work on the EP 349 I posted a few weeks ago. To recap, I had added 3 guitar tracks to the backing track, ie. higher and lower register chord embellishments and harmonics. I have added a lead verse to Brian’s original and then some improv that goes on far longer than necessary. Feel free to add your own fade out when your patience grows thin. I’m enjoying the postings. Thanks for listening and stay safe.

Andre,
That extra verse was playing straight over the chords and the improv was strictly G minor pentatonic.

Very nice production John.
Very smooth. I used it for background music while I was studying. -

Richard,
I thought you were retired. What are you studying? I was going to retire but now find myself scrambling to make up some Mainpro study credits before June 30.

Wow, that’s great music, John! Some harmonies of your song bring me in the spirit of Jimi’s “Cry Of love” album: that moved me a lot! You made a masterpiece! Thanks for sharing. Phil

Well done John, your effects made for a real mysterious feel. Your improv was great and really carried that feel throughout…

Beautiful ambient sound John, almost Brian Eno meets JJ Cale. I can hear a lot of work in that production with inspiring results.

Sounds kind of psychedelic for me, ain’t bad at all. I probably need little bit more LSD to get right through it :).

That’s one fine piece of music. Pulled me in completely. Audio quality is superb. Are you still involved in the group lessons with the instructor you spoke highly of?

I don’t think Active Melody gets any better than this. So well played and produced John.
Retirement?? Best job I ever had! Don’t leave it too long.

Nice, reminds me of background music. It is striking that the effects dominate, which hide a lot. It is a good production. I had some difficulty locating the instruments. Maybe I heard overdrive in some places. Anyway, you’ve done a lot of work with your production cut; with success. Really good job.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Good one, Charjo. You might be able to sell that to some movie production company as a soundtrack. I can see a car driving along a dark desert road past giant saguaro cacti and clumps of tumbleweed, city lights far off in the distance…

That is a really cerebral tone. It gets right into my head.

March 28, 2020 at 7:47 pm #165903
Very nice John. Love that Strat tone, I’m guessing you are using the ‘in between’ quack sound here and there. Lead is nicely aligned with the chords, great ambience and effects! You da man! Hide

You got it, Hyde, good old position 4 on the pick up selector but there’s a Deja Vibe pedal in there also.

What an amazing piece of audio art you have mixed up in your lab. Taken Ep349 to a concert level.

March 29, 2020 at 6:58 am #166212
Still sounds great, Charjo! Out of sight in fact. Never got boring because everything was so perfect probably. Could listen forever just as a catalog of licks. At the end from 3:54 on sounded just like Clapton to me. Sped just a little here, I couldn’t tell the difference.

John, this is awesome. I chose EP349 too, so I know it quite well. Your sound quality is top notch (like pro), and your phrasing on this one is exceptional. Need to have it in my car!
Take care,

Hi John.
Seems you are pushing this one to a real launch. To me, this one (and some others this month) are in the pro-level.
only one suggestion … your guitar, deserve more volume/presence relative to backtrack.rgds.

Well, I didn’t fade it out…quite the opposite, I played it through several times, and appreciated more with each listen. The whole thing was mesmerising as the lead wove in and out of the backing. It’s understated and rich at the same time. Creatively and technically top stuff!

Always a pleasure hearing what you come up with and what you have to “say”. I love the multi-layers, the soulful and mysterious rhythm and your new Strat? and the delay pull it all together. Good work. Rock on!

That was a pretty version of ep349. I enjoyed that a lot. The tones you picked for you guitar were great and the playing itself was well done, strong and articulate. Mighty fine stuff.

Always love your contributions, John. This is beautiful and all your added guitar parts seem to mold together into a blissful slow jam that could play in the background for hours and not get old.

Fade it out?! I want to put it on a loop and listen to it all day long! What a beautiful mix of flavors… I mean, sure – Brian came up with a great lesson but you created a masterpiece! So good, John, just brilliant.

Another outstanding submission, John. The comments above say it all. Just a joy to listen too and as Snake said, it made you want to pick up a guitar and join in.. which I did …but sadly it didn’t sound anything like as good as you produced there..but there’s always tomorrow right :-)?

I like this one as much as the first version. You have become a proficient musician and music technician, John.
