John that sure is a beautiful sounding guitar. I really like how well balanced the treble and bass comes across in your playing.
You said its a light guitar? Is it made from wood or some other material? The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I wouldn’t agree that Hofner Gold labels were rare. One of the oldest musical instrument makers in Europe, late 1800’s I am sure.
Gold label are their custom shop equivalent and retail somewhere around the 5k mark, I am sure the do a hollow body called “the very thin” in their range too and say it is the thinnest hollow body in production.
lovely sounding guitar there John, makes me wish i has some money...Billy..

Billy , true to say but I was told it is the only one in the states with the Matted charcoal black finish according to this dealer, brand new out of the hardshell ,,odor hint of a burt wood? … these are custom hand made..Pete it sure finely made very light compared to other semi hollows.. It looks so composite material looking and It is brand new and not sure about the materials such as the bindings and inlays etc..I’m just as curious..going to research it more.. I only played first time before bed what I videoed….wasn’t even sure what genre to do but tried what I’m learning ,,zz top solo.. anyway..later today if no work scheduled.. will try demoing something cool , maybe that Misty jazz standard I did few months ago.. yes it has a rich deep bass tone mid and low stand out I notice that almost right away too!

John,
I’ll take one! Nice looking guitar. Unusual how the inlays end at the 12th fret – can’t say I’ve seen that before. Love the binding on the guitar.

Billy, You’re right about the age of Hofner as a maker. My first (boyhood) guitar was a cello style, arch top Hofner, bought second-hand and that was exactly 60 years ago. The rest is history …..

Didn’t the Beatles play Hofner’s at one point, or was it just Macca’s bass that was a Hofner?.. I like their guitars, I like this Gold label, but at near £4000 it is way way out of my price range..

I first want to thank my friend Sandra Sherman for the easy free tab ,Still practicing this but the Hofner is a real treat to play and listen to..used a real tube amp with this,, obviously jazz chords are a challenge but actually fun and I smile a lot when I finally get em right in the pocket,, this needs more practice,, I’m also trying to keep the strings quiet using palm muting and fingers on both sides.. it is suppose to be light jazz ,,I try to remind myself to go it easy and light,,ty all this is always fun bunch to share ideas and our gifts!

That’s a jazz guitar, a rock guitar and you even got a little classical guitar tone coming out of it.

That looks / sounds great
Personally find semi’s very tactile and like the response under my fingers, they’ve a real different feel.
(referring to the mostly hollow as apposed to the 335 block type)

These exquisite guitars feature only the best tone woods available to Hofner and finest hardware appointments. Its all put together by master luthiers and it comes in very limited quantities. Also, models of this series can be customized to players specs and requests. Gold Label series debuts in 2013 edition of Hofner catalog and Chancelor is one of its models. Chancelor is a luxurious jazz guitar with fully hollow body and set-in neck. Body of this model is made of flamed maple back and sides with spruce sound board on top. Back and top are arched and top is hand carved. Body of the Chancellor is bound in wooden binding and equipped with a pair of “”f” holes on the top. Fixed brass bridge is backed by a decorative trapezoid tailpiece. Hofners Diamond pickups are installed in both the bridge and neck positions and they feature separate volume and tone knobs. Pickup switch is a three-way toggle. Flamed maple neck is equipped with set in joint and a 22-fret ebony fingerboard. Pearl blocks and 1.73″ string nut are featured on the fingerboard. 25-1/4″ scale wraps up the specs list.
I am also feeling priviledged to play such high end guitars being very close relation to the dealer of some these exclusives I showplay here on the forums… My humble experience comparing tones between this Arch top and the Gibsons I had tried, I can honestly hear the difference between chambered and a custom carved Arch Top.. think Duffy would understand my meaning,, hope he is doing okay, haven’t seen him around AM ..hoping he’s enjoying his Arch top practicing jazz too.. I would buy this model think they make a 18″this is an 17″ full body Arch top,, the deep arch top wood tone is perfect for light jazz enthusiasts. I like a little of everything if I can help it.. lol like Brian on AM!! lol.. Now back to learning the fun solos from ZZTop’s Lagrange! this morning raining,, going to play my standard Les Paul ! almost ready to showcase some Billy Gibbons! first that beatles tune on the Hofner!

I bet it does a mean “Get Back”
Other sites – try ShutUp & Play loads of song tutorials some Beatles, Badge which I keep dipping into also had a play around with the 2 Cult songs he has on their (Up until recently I’ve been a starter not a finisher, should change my moniker to ToeDipper).
That’s one hell of a spec sheet, Hand Carved Top, Ebony Fingerboard, the binding looks lush as well.

yes, still have it to sample too.. SHUT UP AND PLAY! I donate too.. he is amazingly accurate and yes, time to learn from his beatles tutorials.. remember doing while my guitar gently weeps watching Andy? think that’s his name.. a very cool guy no doubt.. several songs I want to do there..would be cool to learn on this Hofner so long as I can sample it while it is for sale!.. got to wear long sleeves lol.. such a nice black matted finish!.. anyway, yes the bindings must of been router grooved in this carved top and yes everything is perfect cool looking..sounds like a excellent archtop jazz guitar but not like I’m an expert comparing makes and models.. I just know by playing feeling the action response and listening to the woods.. and knowing I had the time and privilege experiencing many Gibsons like ES175 etc. and few other top of the line boutiques semi hollows custom carved or router blocked..This is well made quality jazz guitar imho.
I too have a menue tool bar full of sites with really cool tutorials most are free.. I have but two paid membership here AM and because I wanted to learn classic basic skills for bluegrass country..I wanted to get the gold pickers at CGO for another six months.. like to learn country flatpicking instructor.. other than these two paid subscriptions.. couple others I plan to support as well ..can’t be everywhere at once..but as I’m progressing my skill level..I am finding it more interesting and less frustrating with any lesson I challenge..but yet many are still too difficult to attempt ..it is okay to try but I reserve time for the more doable lessons.. deo it right the first time and proceed to the next level! enjoy!
