Hi Mick, I use a Boss RC 3 loop pedal, it has about 10 drum loops with it and you can change the tempo of them. Do a google search on it and you can see all the features…

No loop pedals with built-in drum machines are reasonably priced, unfortunately. But they are really valuable for practice, and also for performing. I have a Boss RC-3, like Bruce. It takes a bit of setup to get it working the way you want it to, and it would be fair to say that the included user manual is not really easy to understand. But thanks to Youtube, you can get tutorials on how to set it up. What I like about all Boss loopers is they have autosync, so that if you turn on a drum track and step on the record button, it will sync the start and stop of your loop to the beat. What I don’t like about it is that you have to step on the button twice to end your loop, and also it’s not easy to make layered loops that you can turn on and off. So finally I bit the bullet and bought the Boss RC-300, which solves all those problems. It is much easier to use than the RC-3, and comes with maybe 50 or so drum tracks, plus a multitude of built-in effects (which I rarely use). It has 3 tracks, and separate on and off buttons for each track. Easy peazy. So I would recommend you to buy an RC-3 now and mess around with it, but add an RC-300 to your wish list. Here’s mine in action:

I too use a Boss loop station, it is the RC 30 which I bought on the used markèt for £100. Lots of used loop stations out there on the used market and always a saving waiting to be had

Just out of interest, I’ve used a Boss RC3 Looper pedal for some years but to prevent doing the ‘double step’ to stop the loop, I plug in a Boss FS5U Pedal Switch which is much more convenient and requires just one tap to halt the loop.

Yep, I did the same thing. The FS5U switch can also do other useful tricks. BTW, I read that like-new looper pedals were the most common pedals for sale on e-bay. Apparently people buy them, can’t figure out how to use them, and sell them. I don’t understand why Boss doesn’t put separate on & off switches for each track on all their loopers. And a brighter LED on the beat marker, so you can see when the green flash turns to a red flash when beat 1 comes around. And a knob so you can set the actual BPM (the RC-300 has this).

Hi Mick
i own the Trio Band Creator + Looper.
The pedal is not a really cheap one but i highly recommend it.
It has 12 different music styles on board and these are again divided into 12 different drum sets.
Check Youtube there are many vids about.Blue

I own the Trio+ too and I can also highly recommend it. I’s a great pedal, not only good for loops, but also for creating your own songs with different parts, styles and gengres. Very versatile pedal!
