I’m an old man who has been beating a younger guitar for years. Time to learn how to really play. Sure hope to learn how to play a few songs well and have some fun along the way.

Hello Jim. Welcome to the site and forum.
I’d like to mention that on Active Melody forum there are a few exciting things happening.
#1. We have monthly challenges for both premium members and members of The forum, but being a premium member is however one of the requirements for the participants that can earn t-shirts by participating in the monthly challenges. For more information concerning this please see this link. https://www.activemelody.com/forums/topic/active-melody-t-shirt-challenge2/
#2. Active Melody now has an AM Jammers Inc. that Active Melody members can join. See the link. https://www.activemelody.com/forums/topic/amjammers-inc-friends/ or contact Craig S. He will help you get started. Anyone from the from beginner to pro all are welcome. Add Craig S to your “add friend”
on his forum profile , or send out a request to the above link to join. Instructions on how to do it is at number #3 here below.
#3. To be able to do Active Melody private messaging this is what you must do.
A. Go to the members icon that you want to private message, tap the icon, it will then take you to their profile page. Look for “add friend ”
B. A friend request will then be sent to that member. If accepted you’ll be notified by your email that you gave Active Melody when you joined the site.
C. After acceptance you’ll be able to private message that member. It’s a good way to stay in touch with members on Active Melody.
If you have any questions please send a private message or post your questions on the form, a member will most likely be able to answer them.
The active Melody forum is where you can ask and reply to questions, share their guitar/learning Experiences showcase their playing and interact with other members.
This is just a suggestion but when you log into active Melody you might want to go to your account and then check the update on your post and messages. It’s a very convenient way to find what’s new for you on your post and messages.
And again welcome aboard to the friendliest guitar forum on the internet
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 Pete

Barry, you got me. Since I’m only 72, I’m just a kid. ha. I hope both of us make some progress. Not sure how much you need, but I need tons of help. I started at the very front (how to hold the pick and etc).
Who knows maybe by the end of the year I may be able to play a song all the way through.
Have a great day.

Hi James young fella. Have looked at the beginners course and think its really good as long as you stick with it and finish it before going on to anything else you will have no worries. I’m sure you will be rocking by the end of the year, who knows even cutting your first album. Good Luck. Bazza 🙂
