Hello
Ok so I recorded this a couple of weeks ago after reading about the challenge. Skip to 30 seconds as I’m fiddling with the gear. And excuse the expression.**//James//**

That’s very cool, James, but why are you playing like Jeff Healey? Is that the way you always play guitar? I didn’t see a slide in your hand but you had something there? Just curious….
Your solo lead was mellow indeed and very pleasant to listen to. The ending was great! 👍🎸JoLa

I have a degenerative muscle condition, called lang distal myopathy, so I can’t hold the guitar so I watched a couple of guitarists, like Jeff and just got on with the job of learning. Thanks for asking, looking forward to all the other submissions.

Nice job, Greenparrot. I could never play lap guitar as well as you have done. Some of the members here are getting into slide guitar, so maybe you could dabble in that technique a bit and see how it goes. And perhaps experiment with some open tunings.
BTW, if you put your video link on a separate line with a space above and below it, it will show up as a thumbnail. Like this:

Oh man, what was that? Whatever you get it, I liked it a lot. Amazing, obviously there are no limits to play instruments. Well done and very cool.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

I had to get used to the sound first, because it sounded a little muffled through my speakers. But immaculate playing! Great submission, Greenparrot.

Well done and I’d like to welcome you if I missed a previous introduction. I’ll never complain about my inflexible fingers again, a minor problem in the scheme of things. Did you play guitar in a more conventional way before or have you always played this way?

JohnI’ve always loved the guitar and tried a few lessons here and there the conventional way but couldn’t hold the guitar and fret so gave up multiple times. Last year I stumbled upon a video of slide guitar players and just tried it without a slide. So far it’s kind of working.

Nice submission, for the most part your note playing fit over the chords. That style of playing does not look easy, but you seemed to breeze thru it…

Wow, I am so impressed how you can play the guitar that way! You must have a good fret knowledge. You are playing all the good notes.

The lap steel approach is probably a first for here. But after the initial surprise, it’s mainly a nice, musical improv, with some very strong melodic lines. If I were you, however, I would consider getting a true lap steel or pedal steel. You alread have some of the basic techniques down, and there’s a lot you can do with them but not with a regular electric.
