Hi Everyone –
Here’s my attempt at composing something to go with the EP290 backing track. Please pardon my sniffling as I’m fighting a cold. Also, sorry about the mediocre sound quality — to get this recorded quickly I just used an iPhone.

I think it sounded good and your timing was great. You moved around the fretboard with confidence too. Enjoyed it.

That was terrific, Gary. Very melodic and with really nice dynamics. You’re back, baby! Sound was pretty good, actually. Oops, thought it was my monitor speakers but I think you were cutting out now and then with static distortion. What I heard sounded great.

Really great improvisations, Gary! Nice sound of your strat.

Sounded great, Gary. One of the best yet, in my humble opinion. Very smooth and soulful. Original and not too schmaltzy. And the sound quality was excellent, iPhone or not. Loved the tone on the strat.

Some great phrasing and melody. Really loved it.

Superb job, Gary. Great licks and overall arrangement. You are a very creative person. And the recording sounds just fine on my Bose speakers. I heard that Apple has improved the mics in the iPhones over the past couple of years. And if you want even better sound, check out the Shure MV-88 mic that plugs straight into the Lightning port of an iPhone.

Beautiful improvised melody Gary, your approach to this challenge was terrific. I loved your choice of seeking out an alternative melody to the lesson’s chord sequence.

Nice and melodic
Sound was pretty decent for straight to phone with baking track in the background
Looking forward to the full production in future submissions 😉

Very melodic and creative.

I think it was one of the best improv this month, Gary. The cold doesn’t stop you from creating great music 😉

Wow! Really good. I like the rake upfront, use of hammer-on’s and double stops. Great playing and very good tone.

Beautiful playing and phrasing Gary! Be well.

Fantastic Gary, this is a level of improv that many of us should be striving for. Every note feels like it belongs. I’ll be favoriting this and revisiting from time to time, thanks 🙏

This an excellent improvising and playing Garry. Beautiful licks and melodies embedded all over!

Way to work the neck! That’s the kind of playing I’m striving for. 👍🏼

Very nice improvisation with a suitable sound and pleasant dynamics in the game. Also, with the sometimes short breaks very well. Great overall pacts.

Nice dynamics and attack, great tone, really soulful….noice!!!

Great job, Gary! You finally found another creative approach to this rather limited chord progression. The voice of the strat is warm, and I wonder if a slightly thinner sound could enhance further the dynamic of your nice licks… Phil

Pure Gold Gary,
Phrases smooth as silk. You made up a pretty melodic line and then repeated it in a higher register. It was like singing. You win the gold medal!🥇

Gary man that was awesome. Pro level playing. Impressive.

Hi Gary…..that was downright soulful….took me to school on that one. One major flaw….I didn’t see the bottle of Yueng Lueng (spelling?) in the background…..
I’ll overlook it this time…..Truly great playing Gary…Inspiring to say the least.

Nice licks and phrasing here. It’s clear you know the fret positions and scales.
Good Job, really

Wow! Very impressive, great timing and you seemed to own the fretboard. This is the first time that I have heard you play and I thought it sounded great, even the sound quality seemed good.
