Hi Gang…..it’s that weekend again…I Did a kinda take off on Douglas Kratz’s version of Sweet Bye and Bye. Spent more time on the backing track than on the tune…Good exercise for leaning how to use Garage Band….Went with the key of C as that was what Douglas used. Oh…my at home guitar teacher helped with the use of 6th’s for the first part of the arrangement, And rig rundown follows my playing….Thanks for listening….
Be kind.

Marty, you’re killing me with all the guitars you have!!! Thanks for showing the two T5 Taylors next to each other, I can now clearly see the difference in size. I would love the smaller one one day, I think. Creating my own jam tracks is also something I considered getting into, you managed to learn it really fast, the track sounded great!
Anyway, great playing as usual, great idea to use the harmonized 6th’s for the first solo, very fitting (even if it was your teacher’s idea. You have an in-person teacher, too??) and nice soloing after that, too. Overall, a nice relaxing and interesting arrangement of the hymn. Your playing wasn’t as bad as you think, it sounded good to my ears.

Martin, nice playing and you have way too much excellent gear! If you need to unload any goodies, call me. Great sound and like you, I learned the very basics of GB and iMovie thanks to JoLa and Patrick van R!!! Well played! Oh, do you still fix teeth for a living like I do? If so, don’t you just love the new COVID world of dentistry!!!?? Slater, Bob

Nice job all around Marty. The GarageBand backing track you made is excellent and your melody and fills sound great. Those Taylor guitars are beautiful instruments.

Really a nice version, Marty. And as usual, you have used some great effects to great effect. And crafted some great original licks to break the monotony of the melody. This is one of your best submissions, in my opinion.

That was a great arrangement and playing. The backing track had a real interest without taking in away from your playing. Those 6th’s were a real treat too. Top notch. Interesting run down on gear also, it had me window shopping.

Hey Martin, do you buy all those guitars or do they just breed while you’re not looking. I loved the look and sound of the T5. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the value of using an acoustic amp. I have a Roland AC40 acoustic amp that I bought about 8 years ago and use it very regularly. Up until recently my wife has been using the second channel to plug in her electro-acoustic ukulele but now has a dedicated ukulele acoustic amp of her own. I love your videos, the playing was great and your mastery of GB also. I must have a go at that. Keep it up Marty, you’re an inspiration.

So nicely played and you are so calm and relaxed with it. I wish I could stay that way. What a wonderful collection of guitars. I like Phil’s breeding comment. Great job.

Well played Martin. You’re idea re: being ‘backed’ by GarageBand was a great one and I’d say a lot of players will follow your lead next time (maybe me too!). Thanks also for sharing your guitars and gear. Always fascinating to see different guitars and dream, dream, dream! All the best!

Brilliant arrangement Martin. You always do such quality stuff and this was no exception. I love the backing track arrangement, especially the big dramatic string section part that allowed you to improvise a little. Great video! thanks for submitting

Always somethingnew to learn .. Nice playing and lots of valuable info on top. Just two days ago I started to learn about self-made MIDI files on Reaper, the DAW I am using. I was surprised to learn that it’s less difficult than I thought.
Anyway, I really enjoyed what I heard. Very creative. -

Awesome playing, Marty. That was one of your best yet, I think! Great tone and had smooth jazz, western, and spiritual elements sounding great to my ear.

Wow, That’s awesome arrangement, Marty. So classy to have classical music backing track. Your tone is also sweet and classy, too. Your acoustic electric has such a warm depth to it. Thank you for encouraging me in your comment for my post.
