I’ve reached a point in my playing that is more mental than physical or technical.
When I used to see TAB and instructional videos I had to play it as detailed. It was as though my mind said if I didn’t do it as written I was getting it wrong. I have no idea where this came from or why I did it this way.
However…
I have heard people say on here that Brian sometimes plays it different to what’s written. That was the beginning of my eye opening, as though it’s ok to do it differently. So, my new view is I’ll play it as I want/see fit. Maybe I’ll hammer-on instead of pick, perhaps I’ll play less notes, I don’t know, but I want to free myself from the constraints I had previously set.
I genuinely hope this is the start of what will make my playing more me.
Do you think I’m making a bad decision???
