It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Pete this an interesting and apparently to my mind a complex thing to make. Well done. Perhaps you would care to say a bit about how you recorded it?
Re the horrible Virus it is here in southern England too. It seems to me that it is very unlikely to be contained in many countries as it appears to spread without too much difficulty. I hope this is wrong. It will presumably have particularly devastating consequences for the weakest and in Africa and those parts of the world less able to cope medically. Do you know if those who have had it and survived become immune to it there after or can it recur? I am not sure how lethal it is, it would seem to be in the order of 1 in about 50 but that is just my impression do you know any stats? I hope it is not too much of a danger to you.
All the very best

I’m very sad to say it is now within our backyard. I think people have been told it is not good to talk about the virus. We now have 3 children with it. The parents in Hokkaido are now very frighten .

Dear Pete,
I am sorry to hear it is now so nearby. I hope the youngsters are able to recover particularly. Its not clear but you say we have 3 youngsters with it do you mean locally or within your family? Either way we pray for the best for them. It seems to me this will affect us all unless we are incredibly fortunate. I see that it is now Spreading in Asia seriously according to today’s paper. We can only hope that it is contained long enough for the vaccine folk to get a jump on it. Please keep us posted.

Pete,
I will not lie to you, I absolutely loved your composition! What struck me first of all was the sound quality, it has improved greatly compared to your other submissions! I can’t even wrap my head around how you did that! Secondly, I loved the atmosphere your music created, it reminded me of my favorite movie soundtrack (from “The Insider” movie) – mysterious, dark, intense, like a thriller… very appropriate to the coronavirus danger you mentioned. I’m so impressed, wish it was longer. I wish you made a whole CD album so I can listen to it for hours! I also wish I saw you play it, was it your own composition? So good, man, really good!Hope and pray for all the people affected by the virus, please take care!

JohnStratThanks . I used 2 tracks on this . 1 track is drums with the rhythm guitar. Track 2 is guitar lead. I’m using a 60 year old Zen-On classical guitar. The tone I was looking for was what that guitar gave. I blended some Asian color into the playing but I didn’t start out thinking that way.
The virus now is really in what people would say “backyard”. Fukuoka, Kyushu Island is now on alert. A lady was feverous and decided to ride the train/subway. Now people are in panic mode to take the subways. I don’t know about the situation in America, but from little I heard, people are just saying its an asian flu and nothing more serious. But the reality is, it contagious and no medicine can cure it as on now.
I’m very active on the updates here in Japan. If you like pm and I’ll share what I have . Very informative I think. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Hello Billy. It took me all day to record it. Now if I can just keep busy and not think about the virus which now as all know is hitting Japan hard.
Thanks. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Hello John. Thanks for your reply. I was a bit hesitant about posting the virus thread because I know the seriousness that lies ahead now. Things are changing by the hour here. 2 schools are now closed. A lady that works around the food that is served to the school kids is infected (this was todays big news)
I guess I’ll keep the virus thread going now.The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Hi JoLa, thanks for your kind comment. I’m using a Zen-On classical guitar on this one. Just 2 tracks with drums.(you buy the real drum playing by a drum player) I would like to get to post a video, but so far I just don’t know how to take a video on an Android and go from there.
Yes, it’s my own composition. I did get the idea from watching a Chinese kung fu movie and picked out the notes that I thought sounded kind dark and plugged in my guitar. ( I bought a 500 yen pickup for the guitar) that’s it.
OK, not going to be cycling much with this virus showing up every where. So maybe I’ll be posting some more music.

Hey Dieter, many thanks. Hope things are not going so terrible in your neck of the woods. Japanese officials have used the word “pandemic” now 2 times. I think we are about 2 weeks away from where China is.
The US State Dept. upped the travel to Japan and Taiwan from Level 1 to Level 2 now.The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Pete, your composition is phantastic. I Love its Asian undertone and the picking. I have no way of guessing the future of this virus, but do your best to stay out of the way. Staying at home and making music sounds like a good action plan. Take care!

As I said somewhere before Pete, I don’t think China has given the full truth on this virus. We have u.k citizens quarantined on ships and at a facility near the city of Liverpool for a two week period, Seemingly the folks on board ships will have to do a further 2 weeks in quarantine once they are finally allowed to come ashore … Strange worrying times right enough.

Very cool, Pete. How did you get that super fast koto-style picking: fingerstyle, or with a pick? As for coronavirus, everyone needs to chill out: The death rate is only 2%, and the people that are dying from it are already unhealthy. Many of them are old smokers (lots of smokers in asian countries) and people who don’t exercise or eat properly. The virus attacks the cilia in lungs (which are already damaged if you’re a smoker), so that mucous isn’t properly moved up your bronchial tubes and throat. You drown in your own mucous. What can you do about it? Start eating an anti-mucous diet,
and play your guitar as much as possible.

Very cool playing Pete. Fast picking counter balanced with a slow delay. Original stuff. Definite Asian vibe. Hope you stay safe Pete and the virus gets under control. We just received some of the passengers from that Japanese cruise here in San Antonio this week and it seems they didn’t have a good plan. Some of the passengers have come down with the virus in transit and they initially were bringing them to a local hospital instead of treating them in place at the military base. That hospital has subsequently cancelled all non-emergency surgeries and procedures for the next few weeks.
Weather and laziness have not been conducive to my own cycling over the last two months, but at least I’ve been playing more guitar!

Hey Ivan, thanks for listening. Yes, looks like the wife is going to have to the juku school now. I don’t think Americans are taking this too serious.

Hello Steve thanks for listening. Yes the speed picking was achieved by almost touching the wooden bridge plate. I need to experiment with gauge picks a bit more to get the sound I’m searching for.

Hi Doug, thanks for the comment. The delay I thought came out better then I expected. Yes, all original I’m going for part 2 that is a bit longer . Hope to have it posted soon.
Yes, getting tough now. The Minister of Health was just mentioning “quarantine” of areas that may get hit hard with virus. So, yep! got to expect the unexpected now.The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Just read interesting article in the Atlantic that the reason it is so dangerous is because of the relatively low death rate. It is being spread by people who either feel fine or are mildly sick. There are estimates that 40 to 60% of the world population will ultimately be infected. At a 2% mortality rate that’s a helluva lot of people.
Keep cranking out the tunes folks. It’s better to play guitar than read the news these days. 😀
