I grew up in the 60’s and I noticed something about myself and how i gravitate toward when playing and what I like. I’m totally not interested in putting on a backing track and jamming too it. Zero interest at all. I recently noticed that most of the lessons I love here are the ones where I do not need a backing track. Maybe Im weird???
What I do enjoy and I am getting better at is playing songs but adding licks and riffs that were close to the original in with the strumming. It’s kind of an art to do and it takes practice and it’s not really something you can teach. There is a guy on youtube who does it and to me he is one the best guitar players I have seen. One acoustic guitar only and his voice and a flatpick. He can make something like Get Back or Sweet Home Alabama sound like it’s a whole band but its just him. I do love to play solos but not my own.
I really like melody and not just mindless notes also.
Just wondering if anyone else is like this???
