Reaper a DAW is fun to use. I think it cost about 60 bucks, but I think it is well worth it. I was just playing with no musical formations on this, but what the heck.

You are not the first person to mention Reaper in the short time that I’ve been tuning in to the forum discussions. I’ll have to check it out. Hope it is more user friendly than Audacity. I really have a tough time with Audacity. Not a very tech savy person. Thanks for the recommendation, Pete. I can’t buy it this month. Yesterday’s Craigslist find busted the bank. lol

Pete, I am going to have to give Reaper and try because it looks like you are getting some good use of it. Is it a really complicated software to use or could the average guy use it? I need a DAW program to use and this may be the one. I have been looking for an interface to record my playing also and would like to ask which one works for you? I see that some DAWs have software programs but I am not sure if they would be good enough to get started with? Thanks for any info that you can share and posting this,

Gary.Gary, download the 64-bit version from ..HERE.. and install it to your PC( I take it it is pc and not mac) If it is mac then you still want the 64-bit version, join the Reaper forum and there you will find all the tutorials you will need to get you up and running..If you get stuck then start a thread and all us reaper users will help out..

Thanks a lot Billy for the info on Reaper. I am just starting on all of this and it is great to have you help me with this. It is on pc so this will be great to get me started. I will buy an interface and a simple one at that but it should do what I need to do. Thank You very much,

Billy, I guess that I need to upgrade to a 64 bit pc to run the 64 bit version. I am not a pc tech at all. Should I just start with the 32 bit version?

You must have an old PC if you are on 32-bit, but if that is all you have then it will only run the 32-bit version of Reaper.

Gary.If you are just doing guitar Gary then I would suggest that you buy one of these ..CABLES.. This is what I use when it is only guitar I want to link to my PC..
Or something like ..THIS.. if you are on a budget....Billy..

Billy, thanks for the info on the cable that connects guitar to pc. Had no idea that it existed. Have you tried it as yet? I purchased the Focusrite interface and it should arrive tomorrow so shouldn’t need this cable but it is something to keep in my hat to share with others. Thanks for the info,

Hey Pete, those are some nice free-form explorations.
Some of it reminded me of Pierre Dorge (some accents in his name I didn’t have). His So Hot, Even the Moon Is Dancing was my favorite album back when; he plays a mix of jazz and world-type music, particularly African Kora-inspired stuff.

Be sure and watch the tutorials, especially the first 30 on how to use it.. yea, seems like a lot, but, they go by fast. Kenny Gioa posts his videos on the Reaper web site and to his YouTube channel.
As for connecting to a PC, most combo amps have a USB port to connect to a PC. I just use an inexpensive Peavy amp.. think is was $129.00 US new. I connect my head set into the amp and then use a cable from the head set on the PC to the guitar amp aux in. I can hear the tracks play on the PC and my guitar.
Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong.

I dig the rhythm, Pete.
Always a pleasure to hear from you!

I wanted to hear it slowly morph into a hard-driving rock with strong beat and bass line, done in Pink Floyd style.

Hi Don
Thank you for listening. I was really just trying what kind of feel and tone I can get from using reaper and the les paul on this, but maybe someday I’ll start playing some music lolThe melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
