Hello everyone, my name is Marc and I just joined the group of AM users, and wanted to introduce myself to the rest of you.
I’m trying to learn to play the guitar for about 4 years now. Until now I followed lessons with a private teacher who teaches a group of approx. 10 pupils during one hour once a week. So that is where I learned the basics of chords, strumming and some finger-picking. He teaches us based upon songs that are transcribed as chord diagrams plus a mp3 of the relevant song. But I feel that I miss the approach I found in Brian’s lessons.
I like guitar music since I was a young boy. I remember vividly the movie of Woodstock, which for me was, in those day’s, an incredible event. The groups who where there rarely came to Belgium so it was awful to see them on the big screen.
In fact it encouraged me to try to learn to play guitar in those days but that was no success then. No proper teacher and secondly not enough time. So I became a DJ in the local club, because music was, and still is, my first love.
I got married, got the kids and a house to take care of after the daytime job, so the idea of playing myself was put aside for many years. When I retired a few years ago I picked it up again and now I feel myself more confident to speak out and to say I’m learning to play the instrument.
For the moment I have three different guitars:
1 Fender Stratocaster
1 Ibanez Artcore AK85
1 Epiphone EJ 200 (acoustic)
a Fender Mustang GTR 100 amplifier (modeling model)
and a separate room in the house where I can practice without bothering my wife to much.
I hope to meet new friends in this forum and to become a better guitarist.
Bye for now
