I’ve just joined Active Melody after one of Brian’s videos popped up on my YouTube. I spend rather a lot of time practicing and learning with guitar instruction videos and music online. I’ve been playing about ten years, almost entirely self-taught. Brian’s words today struck a chord (sorry, that just slipped out >.<) as just what I need right now to advance my skills. Thanks, Internet!
I’m firstly a vocalist, grew up singing harmony with my family. I’m just now getting to realize the dream of accompanying myself on guitar. My overarching goal is to have the kind of improvisational freedom with guitar that I have with my voice.
I have a number of guitars (and a uke) but primarily play a beautiful semi-hollowbody Taylor T5 Pro that my husband got me last year. I love acoustic and electric, and play almost every genre of music. I’m a musical mutt, really. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and am having a ball rediscovering songs from that era and interpreting them on guitar.
Before the ol’ ‘rona struck, I was enjoying playing in a few groups at local venues. I miss those gigs and look forward to getting back to it when things settle down.
I wrote a bio for my profile with more of the gory details, if you’re interested. Thanks for stopping by. Warm wishes to all.
