Here’s a little musical excursion to the paradise of the South Seas (although on closer inspection, it’s more of a paradise for the tourism industry).
I discovered this lovely song on Happy Traum’s “Homespun.” It’s written in Hawaiian F-Wahine tuning (C F C G C E). To make it sound a little fuller, I played a simple accompaniment on my old 12-string EKO. I hope you enjoy it.

That’s a nice one Dieter. You forced me to look up that tuning.

“The term Ki Wahine means “female tuning” in Hawaiian, referring to tunings with a Major 7th note, which are associated with a softer, more lyrical sound.”

Hammering on to the E note gets you back to the ONE chord easily. The C major open chord is the FIVE chord on the top four strings. Is that correct?

I looked that guy up and he is a really good acoustic player. I love that custom Santa Cruz guitar he has. Would love to have that guitar.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

That’s a pretty little dittie Dieter. It sounded good.

Aha! You make me wish I was walking on a beach under the warm sun – especially now that I am huddled indoors on a cold Janaury day.

I always enjoy the way you foray off into different styles Dieter and this is certainly no exception 🙂
