Happy NLF, hoping todays new lesson is a raunchy, swampy one like the songs Im posting today….lots of overdrive on a Gibson 335!!
Today I decided not to focus on a specific artist per se, but a couple of albums that I enjoy very much, but both related to the Rolling Stones. The first is a really interesting record called Chicago Plays the Stones. Its a compilation of Stones songs performed by various blues artists, really interesting stuff because they change the rhythms and feels to make them almost whole new songs….my favorite is Sympathy for the Devil by Billy Branch the harmonica player….the record was released in 2017, news to me. The 2nd is actually by the Stones themselves, called Blue and Lonesome. Though I am a Stones fan, I really haven’t been interested in much of their work in decades. This one however is like a return to blues roots and the recording itself sounds raspy and as if done in a bar. Every song is great..but Just Like I Treat You is my favorite and my friends and I perform it whenever we can. Hope you enjoy the selections below and check out the full albums, lots of great guitar lessons on all these songs….Have a great Friday and weekend!
