Hello guitar lovers! I’ve been carrying a guitar around for about 27 years now and as our lockdown seems to be coming to an end soonish, it finally occurred to me to do this learning thing properly.
A story a friend once told had me laughing and wincing simultaneously because I related to it perfectly.
He spoke of re-uniting with a childhood friend after many years and sharing some drinks in a group when he was asked to play something on his guitar. He played a few tunes then later his childhood friend said
“hey congrats on the guitar playing man, you’re really good.
How long have you been playing?”
“Oh I suppose around 20 years or so” (he started in his early twenties)
“20 years? wow…. you should be much better….”
This is also true for me. I have watched and studied 4 or 5 of Brians’ videos over the last week before signing up.
Quite a few pennies dropped for me already and his way of teaching concepts really connected
Random bits of knowledge I have gathered over the years of just floating along, guitar in hand…
I love all kinds of music but have been drawn more and more to Grant Green and Kenny Burrell, amongst other similar artists, in the last few years in the hope of working towards their bluesy jazzy and funky playing.
I also love Latin American music like Son Cubano, Brazilian Samba and Bossa.
I would like to post something of me playing in the next few days because I am certain that if I stick to this site and learn from Brian and also his members from the look of things, I will be able to play much more freely and joyfully in 6 months time.
Looking forward to sharing and learning together.
Cheers and love
