I never had one before and well, I didn’t even know how and where to turn it on. The sales lady was a bit shocked.
OK, where do I start. What apps do I need for music/guitar and whatever.
Also like to know something about doing video on it if possible. This is what I bought, you may have to change the language into English.

It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Hi Pete……OMG I can imagine the sales lady’s face!!!
Well, I don’t use the phone for too much guitar stuff, but you should download a tuner for sure, always handy. For video you dont need to download anything, just learn how the camera works on the phone ( I have an Iphone so I dont know the commands on a samsung) but they are usually simple press record and you are on…..dont put it too close to an amp, the mic is good for general room sounds otherwise it will saturate, on acoustic it can be closer….a stand is a nice to have so you can fix the phone in position while you play…..
Other than that it depends on how fancy you want to get…..you could download apps like amplitube and get Irig which will let you record an electric guitar straight into the phone using amp models right on the phone…works really well. There are lots of programs for scales and practice as well, I dont use them on the phone, but I’m sure others will chime in with their favorites….enjoy, they are a great tool. Any questions let me know.

Hey Roberto
Yeah, for real, I thought the lady was going to fall off her chair. Anyway she was pretty nice. It’s something to do with Softbank Ymobile.
Does amplitube cost money these days? How do I record straight into the phone? Do I download Reaper? I paid for it a few years ago. So I think they said I could put it on another computer/maybe Android, don’t know yet.
OK, yeah, if you can think of something (apps) I need, let me know. How much is 6 gb. That is what they gave me for the first 3 months then back to 2 gb of usuage.Again, thanks Roberto

HI Pete,
Amplitube has a free version, look it up on the android site where they have the apps to download, and it will tell you the difference between the free and paid version.
You have 2 ways to record with the phone:
1. Use the phone Mic and record audio/video. Then you can move that file to your PC and edit in Reaper or any of those that you have. But I dont believe reaper has a phone version, you’d have to check, but pretty complicated to do on a phone.
2. Buy Irig and you get amplitube with it: Here’s a video of what Irig does:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9tGiYd_ObQ
and here is their android product line http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitubesapa/ notice they also have one for acoustic too. Not expensive at all.
So in this option, you can plug your guitar into irig which acts as an interface to the phone, where amplitube provides amps, effects etc, and if you want, you take that file to your PC for more editing …..it’s very cool…the first ever recording I did since I was 27 and posted here was all done with Irig and amplitube, this is what it can sound like with those devices, no post recording editing at all: https://soundcloud.com/maradonagolazo/test-in-e6Gb is the phone bandwidth, the amount of content you can download or stream with the phone. If you watch youtube videos, Brian’s lessons, emails, texts, or a movie you’ll be using that…..6 is not bad….with 2 you’ll need to be careful, usually after you consume the basic amount they charge you for what you use…which is to be avoided at all costs….it really depends on what you use it for.
Download Proguitar Tuner app, go to the google play store and type guitar in the search and you’ll see all the guitar related apps they have and you can choose things like chord finders, etc.
Enjoy!!

Hey Pete, looks like you got yourself an Android much the same as Samsung or Sony Erricson..1st off I would suggest you download and read the user manual, I have linked it here —> .. PDF.. , My PC is updating at the moment so it wont translate automatically for me..
Video should be straight forward, just find your camera icon on your phone click on that and you should have another icon which is either like a movie camera or just a big red button( those are video)press it and you will see the the video counter running, that is you recording.
There will be another icon which will let you view yourself when recording, you want to select that one when you are recording yourself playing..
Sorry i cant help any more but my pc is updating and I cant get in to the PDF Manual for your phone..wee edit Pete, just found out that these phones are made by Google ..android one..

Hi Pete, my Samsung Galaxy Grand comes with an app called Voice Recorder that I really like. It’s so easy to use and the sound is way richer than I expected something so small could produce.
The video function is alright, but the sound isn’t as good as Voice Recorder. Having a big clamp and something to clamp it to is really helpful (a music stand works, as does the edge of a table if you can get the angle you want).

One must-have app you should download is a phone app.
Sorry, couldn’t resist… This is a dumb joke that just makes my company’s IT guy absolutely crack up.
Seriously, other than a tuner, an indispensable app I use all of the time on my phone is a music speed changer. The version I have is simply called “music speed changer”. If you have any mp3 songs on your phone, you can open one in this speed changer app. It allows you to slow down the speed of any song down to 33% its original speed, which is awesome for learning/figuring out how to play a riff. It will also allow you to adjust the pitch. I’ve dabbled with this feature a bit when trying to learn a couple specific songs that were for whatever reason originally recorded slightly flat or sharp.
Don’t forget to make Active Melody a “favorite” in your web browser! I access AM on my phone the vast majority of the time.
Hope this helps! Incidentally, I’d love to hear about some other apps that you all have found useful for music…
