Just found out Gaye died a couple of years ago.
You may not know of him directly but you will know him from writting many of Cheech and Chongs tunes.
I saw Gaye many many times and worked with him in Edmonton Alberta. Stevie Ray Vaughn described him as “one of the best”. He played everthing from country to rock to jazz. Played with everyone from Powder Blues Band, Lenny Breau, Airto, Billy Cobham, to Stanley Clark.Here’s a short country tune, Caution the lyric’s are adult. This was a big underground hit but some radio played it with beeps over the offending lyrics, which leaves about nothing. “The Rodeo Song”
