I just posted this on Sunburst John’s earlier post, but I think I’ll give it a fresh post. See if you agree with this, and if not, Reply with your ideas and suggestions. Maybe this will be helpful to Brian.
My suggestions (some inspired by what Jola said) involve agreeing on some definitions:
A “Topic” is what you see on the left side of the page when you click Forum, such as “Discuss Lessons”, “Discuss Techniques”. A “Topic” is a subject for conversation. In other words, it’s the category or heading you want to view or post under. You click on the topic called “Monthly Challenge Submissions” when you post a challenge submission.
A “Post” is when a member chooses a Topic, and writes a heading, and writes the body, then clicks “Submit”
A “Reply” is when someone views a Post, then writes a Reply to it.If we agree on those definitions, then these are the changes that should be made:
Change the name “Latest Topics” to “Latest Posts”, and put it at the top of the list.
Change “Most Popular Topics” to “Most Popular Posts”
Change “Topics Freshness” to “Replies Freshness”
Change “Topics with Most Replies” to “Posts with Most Replies”
Change “My Active Topics” to “My Active Posts”
Change “All My Topics” to “All My Posts”
Change “Topics With My Reply” to “Posts With My Reply”
Change “My Topics With No Reply” to “My Posts With No Reply” (Do we really need this?)
Change “My Topics With Most Replies” to “My Post With Most Replies” (Do we really need this?)
Eliminate all the “New Posts:___” because they are arranged according to the freshness of Replies, and that is redundant since we already have “Replies Freshness”.Most of us will use “Latest Topics” (which can hopefully be renamed to “Latest Posts”) 99% of the time, and the other items on the list are just for occasional use. The truth is, when you log into the Forum, what you want to see is what people have been posting, and in the order they were posted. I suspect that hardly anyone really wants to see a list of what other members have been replying to, in the order that the replies came in. Or do we?
