I barely made it to the party, phew! I’ve had a tough month but managed to put this video together last night after work. Working on this beautiful track was a lot of fun and I tried many different things, the slide was a last minute idea. Hope to have enough time this weekend to go through all your creations, can’t wait to see what you all came up with!

I like the slide idea but the real magic was in your beautiful melody especially over the line cliches. Some really nice note choices in there. Always look forward to your submission, Jola.

As you know, I also find very inspiring the slide playing and you found a wonderful inspiration for a beautiful composition, combining brilliantly the slide parts with the regular guitar melodies, JoLa! Beautiful composition, flawlessly played: loved it!

Great work Jola! Its amazing what you can get done in such a short period of time. I like the comment you made in the thread on this BT chord progression. I did EP 314 a couple years ago…what a great lesson and you remembered it! You’re a great student. Thanks for that….you’re right on the mark with how that relates to the Em part. Cheers. Pap

That’s a very special composition Jola. I like it a lot. You are really good with the slide. I tried it a few times , so I have an idea what it takes to make a slide sound good. Glad you made it!

Here comes the JoLa😯🎸😀.
What a start with that beautiful haunting slide sound, just a few notes that make me shiver. Then you laid another beautiful and sweet melody on top. Fantastic🙏.

JoLa! My goodness.
This is fantastic. Gives me goosebumps. Not only one gorgeous melody but two. There is no margin of error here. You either nail the slide or you crash and burn. I love the unique sounds you generated. You took some big risks and came out so far ahead of the curve. 😃🎸You should be proud of yourself. Just sayin’-I really enjoyed this. What a fantastic piece of music. Thank you for your continued inspiration.John

You came up with this on the fly?
It was beautiful and fully in keeping with the dreamy yet powerful backing track.
That adds up to the perhaps obvious point that you are a talented and creative musician who has a great command of her instruments.
The double stops, hybrid picking, all perfect for this.-

Thanks, Paul but no, I worked on the track here and there throughout the whole month, tried different approaches. The slide idea was a last minute decision and recording itself was done on Friday night of the challenge weekend which is very late for me!

Very pretty and ethereal! Love the effect of the slide on the resonator guitar…is that one of the Gretsch’s?
Loved it!-

Thanks, Bill. Yes, it’s the Gretsch boxcar with added JJ pickups.

What a great idea to use slide!! I really like it in the Em section. The lead playing after that is brilliant too. Very creative and wonderful playing. Brilliant!

Sometimes the last minute ideas are the best, Jola. The slide playing goes so well with this track. And then this wonderful solo. It sounds so inspired and relaxed. I can’t believe you recorded this after a day’s work. Music is relaxation, isn’t it?
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will probably take place in July/August 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

This is really something completely new 😉 in this challenge JoLa! Great idea to use a slide! Wonderful submission with little time, the result was excellent as always!
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.

Very sweet Jola. I like how you let the song breathe. The slide was great! It’s very moody. I wasnt expecting an other lead to join in so that was cool. Great work on the video editing too. You have a good eye, and ear!

Very imaginative to use the slide Jola, what a terrific idea. Your duetted composition was really wonderful, great playing and tone. Definitely one to be proud of.

Your slide part was a great idea JoLa… very Harrisonish, and your single lines were just right, Brian always says to phrase like a singer and you did that very well. A piece like this doesn’t call for a mess of notes, just a few good ones, and you found quite a few of those. Sounds very “uncluttered” and musical.

Wow the slide does add a lovely dynamic to this track , and as mentioned George Harrison came to mind .
Beautiful crafted melody with fine note choices and phrases leaving just the right amount of space .
A fine performance jola …..one of your best 🎸👌Martin

Niesamowicie fajne!!! So very cool JoLa!! Way to open up, “sliding” your way into another FANTABULOUS composition! Super on the lead ideas and soulfulness of your playing! You pour your heart into your music and it shows! Wonderful

That was bursting with creativity, Jola. I was literally sitting on the edge of my chair to see what you would come up with next. I don’t think it’s possible to come up with a better solo than that. 100% excellent!

I first listened to your submission through Speakers, JoLa, and then again through Headphones, as I thought I detected you changing the stereo perspective on the individual tracks – I did this on my submission too 😂; it adds a lovely ethereal quality to the tune! Really lovely and pretty composition – Mark 👍🎶😎

Hi Jola, this is a very sweet melody, and I love how you layered in the slide. Glad you made it this month, we would have missed you! The 6ths were especially nice, ascending over the G and moving you into the Em section. So nice!

Hi Jola, many thanks for your kind comments on my submission. It made me realise that I couldn’t recall seeing yours and you not posting was as unlikely as me getting a tax rebate! Glad I found it and that you found time to finish it. The slide was awesome, I listened through headphones as it swirled from one ear to the other. Great effect on the slide too, was it some kind of reverb?. I’d thought of trying to play some slide but couldn’t come up with something. What you did fitted perfectly, the sparsity in the playing was just right, it reminded me of Floyd but I can’t recall quite why. Loved the lead you put on top in the second cycle, as always your ear for a melody came to the party too!

Aw, thanks, Andy! Sometimes I wonder myself how I manage to post something each month in spite of the scarcity of time…. And yes, I used my favorite Logic Pro’s Reverb For Days with the slide 🙂
