Thanks for sharing John. The video contains some really helpful information and cleared up a couple of misunderstandings that I had on the mixolydian scale.
The pros and cons of posting videos like this, by competitors of Brian, was recently debated on the forum and opinion seemed to be split with some being in favour and some being against this type of posting.
You seemed to be a little unsure about how this post would be received, and since a lack of response could be interpreted as a lack of support, I’d like to put my take on the issue.
We are all here to improve our guitar playing. And since no one teacher can cover all bases – most of us will from time-to-time, or even routinely, use the sites of competitors of Brian, to supplement what we’re learning here at AM. This might be explore another genre of music in more depth, to access a different approach in an effort to understand a concept in music theory, or in order to explore a topic further.
So I guess the point I’m making is that in an effort to improve our guitar playing its inevitable that a lot of us are going to access the lessons of Brian’s competitors. This is done to supplement/complement what we are learning here at AM. And we will find these sites by spending umpteen hours scouring the net, or we can save a lot of time and effort and check out the recommendations of other, informed players like the members of the AM forum. And because Brian’s site is quite simply the best on the internet, I’d hazard a guess that very few of us will be ditching AM for another lesson provider.
So I’m in favour of member postings like this, which help AM members access good lessons from elsewhere as long as it is done with discretion and without going out of the way to promote competitors of Brian. We access other sites anyway to supplement what we are learning here, and despite this we remain members of AM because on so many levels it is quite simply the best.
Cheers,
Rick

Rich, exactly my thoughts too, 1) I have way to much fun learning from Brian and doubt sharing is counterproductive in this respect..a how to video of another youtuber interpreting basic music theory which is all it is ..,good teaching somebody to speak/pronounce another language.but why not learn to read the language you are trying to speak ?.. If I find some cool tutorials/tools to help connect the dots, I don’t see it as competition unless as some have stated( pay site channel adds),but if it’s free it’s for me and by that I mean ..I do that here at a discount compared to them big pay sites that I tried and they can be overwhelming (price and material) I’m content here and have my hands full at Brian’s AM paying less half the tuition of competitive premium instructional memberships , AM offers me good quality practicing, fun easy nice pace but same time learning theory and progressing..I try to learn and why not share something new each time I sit down to practice.. I can sit and play an intro kind of easy to learn Angus Young lesson, and youtube auto control shows a suggested tutorial from some other site with free tab .. for example,Brian’s AC/DC EP195 lead me to the rock song thunderstruck, which i took time to learn in a few hrs..I can showcase to speed and tempo thunderstruck but won’t, not doing that here at of respect for the teacher.. Some here inquire how I get these lesson down so quickly,,it takes hrs until I smooth any of them out close to like Brian! lol.. just by watching his walk throughs, I’m learning it is all about keeping to tempo/the timing/ METRONOME PLUS BRIAN’S VIDEO..GREAT DEAL! ..it is just as important playing each note tabbed! Anyway, i am onto country bending solo EP 191 which i’m almost ready to showcase.. but whatever helps the mechanics and theory behind these lessons can and will benefit the AM community,, I find my thread useful for EP 196 and i’m excited to share anything useful. Contrary to thoughts it may sway rather build a quality site which it already is!! cheers!

Been listening to Stitch for a supplement to Brian’s lessons for some time now! Very helpful in putting things in perspective! He can be a little hyper in his delivery, but like I said, very helpful………….Sal
