This is probably the most boring and often over-looked aspect of playing guitar. exercises.
This is something that a guitar player needs to do to have dexterity, limber playing. I absolutely hated this when I was learning to play, but, it pays off. It is something that you need to come to grips with. You HAVE to do it. If you want to become proficient, you HAVE to do exercises.
It is said that some famous guitar player locked himself in his room for a year and just exercised.. (EC?) Whoever it was, hats off..
It is so important that your hand and fingers can be limber AND accurate. To do this, you need to know what works and what doesn’t.
My favorite is using a “bar chord” stance and stretching out 2 frets with each finger, (that can physically do this).
Hammer on each string in bar chord, etc.. pull off’s.
using each finger reach out 2 frets and play down each string.
make up your own exercise.. Use combinations of strings/fingers..
point is, exercise!
what do you like to do? If you have a favorite, please share!
Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong.
