Thank you for this forum and the friendliness.
Am 48, I bought a guitar when covid struck in 2020. Have practiced most weeks 2-4x per week for 30-60 minutes. I even had a teacher come to house for 5 1 hour lessons. Read about guitar technique and principle daily and watch Brian’s and others’ videos nightly.
I feel like my brain and hands just don’t get it. After 2 years I can mostly play 1 song, a few riffs and that’s about it. Switching chords requires a reset and creates a gap in the song. I hit the wrong string or will be accidentally pressing against an adjacent string a lot (fat finger syndrome).
Are there people who just can’t do it? I feel like I’ve put forth tremendous effort and do enjoy music and trying to play but even my wife, who is very supportive, says she doesn’t recognize anything I’m playing. Feeling defeated.
Any sage guidance? Thx again, this is such a warm, kind community. Nice to see.
