Back in Nov 2021, at the start of Winter in Switzerland and Summer in Australia, Denise and I started out on this collaboration.
The aim, to take EP373 and merge in our own ideas and licks from with EP318, another J.J.Cale lesson of Brian’sIt turned into a monster project with multiple guitar parts!
Year’s changed, Denise’s guitars changed. Although what a sight and sound Duesey brings!
We’ve finally finished it by adding a last cycle of licks and phrases from J.J.Cale’s catalog, we’ll let you try and spot where they came from 🙂Many thanks once again to Denise for sharing this journey with knowledge, enthusiasm, ideas and excellent muscianship.
Its given me a whole new insight into J.J. Cale’s music. Its been alot of fun putting it together, We hope you enjoy it too.

Excellent project and rendition guys, brilliantly designed and beautiful played! I had a similar idea a while ago, but never implemented, not even started in fact, because very demanding in fact! You both did really a great job and most important very enjoyable to listen to (I’m a big fun of the J.J. Cale music!).

Absolutely brilliant, Denise and Andy! 👏👏👏🎶🎶🎶
Such a professional performance all round: the playing, mixing and video work are all superb! 👍
Loved the visuals, and your licks complemented each other perfectly – it was sometimes difficult to determine who was playing what, which shows how well you matched. Could listen to that again and again – in fact, I think I will 😎❤️

Also a special thank for your great job on the audio/video editing! You have been very supportive.
I loved that you shared your guitar playing skills, experience and JJ improv inspirations with me. The hard work has paid off.

Denise and Andy,
A wonderful collaboration. The back and forth interplay is so smooth and melodious. I can’t imagine how you synced the video together. All those entrances and exits. Denise sets her guitar down, Andy wanders in the room, picks up his and starts playing right on cue? Marvelous production and musicianship.James

Wowza Andy and Denise! Yinz rocked it! What a fabulous project – I can tell you poured hours and tons of love into this piece. Denise, your bends keep getting better and better. The two bends you did @ 1:53 and 1:58 are spot on and beautifully done. I love you both went fingerstyle, yet have your own sound. Loved all the vid and tech stuff too. Professionally done: The playing and the production. Congrats Andy and Denise! Bobby Ut

I fondly remember that lesson, one of my personal highlights.
Just an awesome interpretation by this team (I should play my Duesenberg more often ;-))
Needless to say: A great production! -

I recall taking one of those J.J.Cale lessons before I joined this forum, cant recall which one. I really like the laid back groove both of you have put to this. Great video work from Switzerland and ‘Down Under’ too.
Very cool the way you managed to synchronize the guitar sounds in spots then diverge to your own respective parts. Excellent work both of you.
PS: What is that guitar you are playing Andy? Its a beauty. Looks like an Ibanez but the headstock logo looks different – can’t quite read it.

Many thanks Geoff. Playing off what each of us had composed was a lot fun particularly in the last part with harmonised guitars.
The guitar is a PRS “Se Paul’s” which I got last year. The finish on the whole guitar is first class and it’s an inspiring guitar to play.-

The PRS is a nice guitar. It was a guitar I would have seriously considered when I was out looking for one but it is not readiliy available in Music stores here sadly.

Many thanks everyone for those warm and inspiring comments. They are all really appreciated. It was a fun project for sure and stretched us both in new ways which is the real benefit.
I should probably give a shout out to an exhausted PC for doing all the hard yards with the video rendering 😂 but it had to be more fun than installing endless Microsoft updates and it’s getting a rest while I’m on holiday for a few days.
Cheers All -

Hi Geoff,
Many thanks for that. Really good to hear how much you enjoyed it.
We had a lot of fun putting it all together, especially the trying out and sharing of different ideas.
And I agree, those slides of Denise’s are awesome and add loads drama. One of my favourite parts too.
