This was the lesson I wanted to play for the December Challenge, but I wasn’t ready to play it decently yet, and so I chose EP339. Now, with some more days of practice, I’ve been able to play it a bit better and I’ve decided to record and post the video. I’ve also added a very simple acoustic rythm guitar part to the backing track

Hey Guido. Great to hear your post. I really enjoyed your rendition and excellent idea to add the acoustic rhythm track, it definitely added another dimension. This is the first time I’m heard this lesson. I can understand why you chose this. Love the feel, the fingerstyle playing and you played the piece with confidence. Unusual chord progression, Brian is a genius. Keep the music coming. All the best!

Hi Garry. Thank you very much for your appreciation! Yes, it’s a very good composition, very nice chord progression, different from usual standard blues and very nice to play! Ciao!

Hi Guido, You played that really well. The rhythm track sounded great with the Dove. All my grandparents were born in Italy and migrated to America in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. They grew up close to Rome and Naples. One uncle was named Guido too. Take care,

Guido the addition of the acoustic to the rhythm track was a great idea and really brought this to life. The tone on your lead work is fantastic. Nice job from start to finish.

Thanks Clarke! Yes, when I first heard this tune I wanted immediately grab my acoustic and play the chords along, because of the nice chord progression, and it sounded good to me so I added to recording. All the best!

Good choice Guido, I loved your composition between the two guitars. That’s a lovely melody and you did an excellent job with it.

I’m not familiar with this lesson but I think You hit the jackpot adding the acoustic. It fits very well.
Great playing all around

Nice one Guido. They’re so many great lessons. It’s impossible to keep up with them. I always like the sound of your acoustic.

Well done Guido !
Your acoustic rythum accompanied with your electric guitar improvisation had a good sound to it. Blended well together. Your vibrato and lead had a good sound as well. Thanks for posting !

It was very clever to add acoustic part to the backing track and increase that way the value of whole sound of the track.
Great solo indeed and the way you played it was awesome.

That really was a pretty great performance especially with the added accoustic backing track. I love that semi-solid electric guitar you are playing, wish I had one 🙂

Thanks, Geoff! My Gretsch streamliner is an entry level Gretsch. Not expensive, and in my opinion quite good (but I’m not an expert in electric guitars, just a beginner, all my life I’ve been playing only acoustic until 1 year ago).

Interesting Guido, I am in exactly the same position as you. My electric is a Squire Stat which I bought as a starter kit from Fender that came with an amp. The amp was rubbish but the guitar is really not bad, found it a bit tinny so I changed the pickups on it and now I am happy (I have since purchased a Vox Mini5 Rythm Amp and a Boss ME-80 effects unit).
I had spent a lot of time reading ont his and, apparently, the guitar is not as important as a good amp. If I had my choice again though, I would have got a guitar similar to what you have, I really like semi-solids but they were a little pricier than mine.
