This is not an easy solo. This and EP092 really caught my ear and I couldn’t move to anything else until I got them the least bit proficient.

Yes you picked a really hard one John. I worked about 2 months on this one and still just had to go with what I learned when I posted it after finally wanting to move on to another lesson. John it sounds like you have your part learned but at times I can hear it out of step with the backing track. Maybe turn the volume up just a tad of the backing track to help hear it just a little bit more. I think that would really improve it and it always helps me to stay in step with them. I had to turn the speed down on my recording software for a while until I could get up to speed with the track. Although in your case in a few spots it sounded like you were a bit ahead of the track. All in all though great job on an extremely hard one. Do you tend to like the country songs Brian does, like I do?

Yes James I enjoy the country compositions provided by Brian. I never really dabbled in them before. Just looking into them and I think I started with the most challenging. Anyhow, I will try to tighten this up a bit. It’s been about two weeks and of course, I benefit from walking away and not touching it. That’s when I experience my biggest leaps in progress.

Hey John, I really understand you when you say that you can’t move to anything else until you don’t have the song in your fingers.. It’s always the same for me… and even if you have a good take, you try again and again cause you’re sure you can make beter isn’t it?? hahaha
In this case, I think you were ready to move to something else, that was awsome. Great playing!
Rock on'

I know what you mean John about walking away and coming back to them. Man you got through this whole thing in two weeks. I swear it took me 2 months to get through this one. Please don’t walk away from this one because I think you are just minutes away from the timing I mentioned above. You are excellent with the solo and I wouldn’t change a thing in that regard. So it is just that one thing. It is going to be really cool I can tell you that. Hey what quitar and amp are you using? That is the tone I am searching for. It sounds really good to my ears.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I am using my Fender Stratocaster and just playing through the ‘Brit and Clean’ amp setting on Garage Band. I tried to dial up a little dirt and reverb on it. I realized something with this composition, and I think it’s true of a lot of lessons. It’s hard to really pay attention to timing when when you are fumbling around with the notes. It’s only until you master the notes that you can make them fit correctly into the chord sequence; if that makes any sense. In other words, it takes a duration of time for me before I can truly get the timing down. It’s almost like you are freed up now to listen to how it all falls into place.
My pleasure as always, have a warm day fellas! Rock on!
