I’ve been tackling videotaping myself and uploading the file to YouTube. After much help from you guys and trial and error, here’s what I came up with. I chose one of Eric Clapton style ballades, which sounds beautiful with Brian playing, but NOT easy at all for me to play. In any case, hope this works. Thanks for watching and Happy Valentine’s Day!

That’s about as good as it gets. Splendid job. Wonderful tone and some real fast parts that you nailed. Great timing. Pretty impressive start. I look forward to hearing more.

I practices that fast runs MANY times Richard before I got to this point. That seems to be the only way, repetition.

Hide,
Man you played that to perfection – tone – feel – touch – emotion, what else can I say. Absolutely loved it.

One of my favourite lessons is this, I’ve tried to master it but so far I am unsuccessful,You played that like you wrote it. Perfect in all aspects.

Nice job, Hide. You did good on those fast runs. I remember learning that lesson, but I’ve forgotten it by now. Nice to hear it again.

Welcome, Hide. That’s a great lesson and the one that opened my eyes to mixing the major and minor pentatonic. I was really impressed with how effortlessly you did the fast runs.

John, Thank you, and Yes, I agree Clapton does that so well (mixing). So does B.B., where it must have come from. Then Lonnie Johnson and on and on and on…

Thank you Don. I played it straight into my Princeton Reverb. No pedal, reverb at about 3.5. That’s very unforgiving. You hear all the flaws that way, so it’s a good practice.

Yes, it’s good practice, and it’s a good volume for playing with others, so everyone can hear what’s going on.

That some very fine playing. Keep’m coming. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

It would be nice if I could play as well as you, but that just isn’t going to happen.
My daughter once said this to me as I was showing her some chords on the guitar and she picked up the chords and basic rhythms really quickly. “持っているかいないか ” motteirukainaika then she smiled at me. I said to myself, time to put my guitar down. 🙂The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Pete, Your daughter is funny. Surely has a sense of humor. B雨Tthen we have an expression, mochi aji. Mochi as you know is what you have, aji is taste. So there isn’t anyone who does not have his own aji. Aji, 味、is one of the words for ajino moto, 味の本,the ’aji esseence,’ by the way、which is the commercial name for the MSG.

Fantastic first post Hide! I enjoyed every second of this, full of emotion and with perfect tone. You play with a wonderful sense of feel. I spent a week in Chicago in June taking in the blues festival, our favorite club was Blue Chicago, so much fun! Looking forward to hearing more of your playing.

Thank your so much for your comment, Scott. I am encouraged! I plan to go to Chicago Blues festival this year. I’ve been to Rosa’s and Kingstone Mines for jam nights, as well as to listen to our local/international blues man, Lurrie Bell (son of Carry Bell) at Rosa’s. Let me know if you are coming to the Blues festival this year! Haven’t been to Blue Chicago yet.

very well played, that’s a great and challenging lesson EP074, and you nailed it, especially the fast runs, plus beautiful phrasing and timing. Great tone too. You not only play the notes, but you play with feeling. Great debut, welcome Hide to the Forum posting group, and thanks for getting back to some straight ahead electric blues – probably my favourite playing style (although there’s lots of others that grab me too).
Keep ’em coming.-

Thank you Roger(?) for your kind and encouraging words. Yes, I do like those British/Clapton-esque electric blues. Great to hear that you, too. Speaking of which, I’v been practicing EPs, 025,035, & 056. I think they capture the sprit of B.B. King, Clapton and British Rock very well.

Greatly played and therefore welcome. In essence, you have the required feeling that makes up the blues, transcribed into the track. It’s a different story than just playing the notes. You have yourself perfectly integrated into the Bachingrack. Yes, I enjoyed it!
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Thank you Jonathan for listening and for your kind words. The winder lingers on here in the upper Mid-West of the U.S.A. Are you getting that yummy Hokkado ramen with lots of butter, corn and garlic? They really warm your heart (so does blues).

If I ever get back to the Quad-cities and have a car rental, perhaps get together for some coffee.
MSG I really don’t like it in my food, but its hard not to find it. The frozen gyoza probably has it.Well, if you make it back to 日本 this year drop me a line.I’m not to far from Asa Shinkansen station (Sanyou-Onoda) in Yamaguchi-ken.
