Hi Bruce,
I have worked this one up as well, I think you and I are both attracted to this kind of sound. Although this one is not technically difficult to play it takes time to really get the feel right and I can tell you took a lot of care with that. Also, you nailed the tone, with the subtle gain and just the right amount of reverb to give it that strat sparkle. Nicely done.

Wonderful posting Bruce, you played that number with a relaxed and measured temperament and captured the feel of that melody exactly.

That was fantastic, Bruce. Very tranquil. Your playing and the images of you on the river went beautifully together. Thanks for sharing this!

Bruce, that was just totally beautiful all the way around: From your great playing, wonderful tone, expert vid work and the scenery was stellar. What river is that? Great job! Bob

Thanks everyone and Bob, that is the East Fork River, one of my favorite rivers in Western North Carolina. We are blessed to have some of best fly fishing rivers in the country….

Bruce,
What did you use for your tone? I’m always curious about a great strat tone.

Hey John, the tone was pretty straight forward. I used a Shure SM57 mic in front of a solid pine cabinet I built with a Cannibis Rex speaker. The amp is a Blues Jr tweed that I just used to power the C.R. speaker. The pine cabinet has way better tone than the particle board used in the Blues Jr. Ran it thru a Scarlett 2i2 and into GarageBand. Used the neck pick up and no pedals, reverb on the amp about 3.5

Interesting comment about the pine. Now I can see the pine cabinet you’re referring to. I assume that’s a 12″ speaker.

John, that’s correct, it’s a 12″ and the cabinet is a bit larger than the Blues Jr. and I’ve got it lined with sound proof foam…also it has a baffle in the front and completely covered in the back..

Well played and well recorded, Bruce. But more importantly, did you catch anything? I’ve been fly fishing several times and never caught a single fish. So I’ve gone back to salt water fishing, which I’m pretty good at.
