Clearly this one was always going to catch my interest. Slow and melodic and, obviously, written for the neck pickup of a strat. I added a second chorus and made a few small variations. Hope you enjoy. Have a nice weekend and stay safe.

A quality performance John, all aspects of soloing were perfectly executed and your off-piste parts fitted a treat.

I knew that lesson would fall in your wheelhouse the first time I heard it. The parts you added are every bit as good or better than the original. The whole thing sounded smooth, sophisticated, and professional. You have become an accomplished player, who can play, compose, and record with the best of them. Nicely done.

Absolutely lovely John. You make that strat sing. I like that the last few lessons, Brian has toned down on the extra embellishments and kind of gotten back to basics.

You never cease to amaze me, John! You are such a clean and professional player, and your strat tones are pure bliss. I don’t think it could be done any better than that.

Charjo – just a totally perfect execution of this lesson and THEN your own well thought out composition to extend the song. I feel your own contribution is every bit as good as Brian’s original part. Not only was the performance perfect but so was the tone. Highest praise for this one.

Stunning performance John. Brian’s original and your additions fitted like hand in glove. Very precisely played and loved the reoccurring vibrato throughout. Sound setup and tone from your guitar is awesome as always. All the best!

Hi John, that was a perfect performance both in timing, rhythm and fill licks. You especially master the hendrix style techniques in the different positions… Very clean sound and a pleasure to listen…

It seems like this lesson was written with you in mind, John. Or maybe you wrote the lesson and licensed it to Brian? 😉 Your playing is delightful as usual, love the added verses and the heavenly tone of your strat. It always makes me want a strat, aah!

Great job on this one, Charjo. To me, this is one of Brian’s best lessons, and you played it to perfection and beyond.

Perfection, John! (I only wish.)
Larry
P.S. I notice you are picking right over the middle pick-up. This is my default position with the strat (with my right picking hand). I have a problem with frequently hitting the middle pick-up with my pick (goes too low under string?) when I play this way. Also, when hybrid picking, I frequently miss the high E string with my ring finger, because my finger bounces off the outside of the middle pick-up before it contacts the E string. I just wondered if you ever encountered these kind of problems?

Larry,
I think I pick more lightly than I used to, part of my trek to try to get faster. Also, I lowered the pick ups on this guitar. They were initially set quite high and I did have that issue. I don’t notice much difference in sound and, theoretically, it should improve sustain. I agree it can be a problem and one reason I hate triple humbucker guitars.

Thanks, John. That helps. I didn’t know you could lower the pick ups. I’ll check it out.

Charjo,
Nice Strat workout you put together, with some tasty Hendrix ideas. You get a big tone out of that. I love the Strat neck pickup.Bruce
Just focus on the notes you DID get right . . . Frank Vignola

Hi John! Great lesson and AWESOME playing (as always). Love the tone and quality of your vids – I need to visit you sometime and get lessons on all the tech stuff!! I noticed the COVID beard, too! Rock on. My hair is so long now – kinda like 8th grade and David Cassidy style. LOL. Super effort on this lesson John! Bob

Well, dare I say that you played this as well as Brian did. I absolutely loved that clean tone, your expression and the improvisations of your own that you put in this – very nicely done.
Busy working on this myself right now and it is lovely to play. Really nice melody.

I agree with Clarke , your added parts are at least as good as the original lesson if not better! Everything about this is first class John.
