Looks a lot easier to play chords in the first three strings. But, I’m always looking for a Root. In the G major chord page there is a root, 3rd and 5th going up the 1st string. But as you progress through all the keys, e.q. the 9 Chord, no root there.
My Question is:
Do you just “memorize the different grips” or does practicing a I, IV, V progression in different keys result in a muscle memory for all chords.
Question #2: Is there a way to decide on which of the 1,3,5,b7,9,11,13 etc., in a given chord “to use” when your playing ONLY 3 strings? Let’s say you’re playing a C 13th.
Hope these questions make sense. Thanks for your help! and
Thanks to Brian for an outstanding exercise/course.
