Hi members,
I love last week’s lesson, slow and soulful always pull me in. I added 3 guitar tracks to the backing track, two with chord embellishments and one with harmonics and then added Brian’s lead. I’ll come back to this with more lead at a later date. I’ll bet this EP will be the March challenge. Thanks for listening.

Great sound John. The harmonics are a nice touch and holding back before you started the leads created more tension that was resolved when that first mysterious lick rang out. Yeah, how about another verse Chargo!

You definitely took that one to a different level John, your extra layering produced some great atmospherics. As you said, I believe there’s still a lot left to play on this one.

Like the way you layered the tracks. Your creative side is envious and the lead and tone sounded great. Nicely done John.

Wow, John, amazing and beautiful! If you and Brian ever formed a band together, you’d be topping the charts and I would be a big big fan! 🙂

Very creative in taking one layer and multiplying it to another level. The mindset of a sound engineer, and for that you would need to think in 3D. The results speak for themselves, impressive.

Smooth and relaxing music. This kind of tune admitted a lot for impros and different variations indeed. Great production, John.

Awesome playing, Charjo! You really set the mood and played with pro quality. This lesson reminded me of Starship Trooper (starting at 5:41 by Yes). I think it’s the same main chords. You should go on tour with them!

John, I wondered what you were going to do about this month’s challenge, since you had done it twice before, once in the context of the lesson and another time, using the major scale with chord tone soloing. I was hoping you would repost the major scale version for those that hadn’t heard it. It was superb.
Anyway, you seem to have used your time productively. In addition to great playing, your arranging and production skills are impressive. Nice job on 349. I look forward to the addition of your lead. -

Love the soundscape that draws you in, nice space round the licks and the push pull nature of them

Andre,
It’s Brian’s backing track from EP 349, I think he had a Rhodes piano in there, and I added three guitar layers and the lead.

Definitely beautiful, soulful and slow version in a great sound dress. This backing track is, I think, suitable for everything. Anyway, I find your improvisation approach very nice; great production john!
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Awesome stuff buddy!! Once you have fully retired you could definitely hang out your shingle as a session player and producer, you’ve got the chops and technical prowess to do it!
