I didn’t plan on posting this month but I was inspired by all the great challenge submissions. I did video this but had tremendous technical problems and eventually gave up. Here’s the audio at least.

Hi John, that was cool. In the first 5 sec. I reminds me of J. Hendrix. LOL. A very different and, therefore, your own variant. Beautiful solo runs with a impressive Sound.
Wilfried
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Jimi lives!!! Great tone, great feeling. And no backing track. Well done John. Very inspirational, makes me want to get out my Strat!

John,
Great as always. Nice full sound with a great ending, sounded like a slide guitar right at the end. Very cool. There were a couple of measures midway I believe where it sounded a little like the Beatles ” Don’t let me down ” which in my book is all good.

Bravo, John. That was some fine rhythm playing. Very fluid, and you did a great job mixing up your own fills, Brian’s and George’s. Liked the nod to Abby Road on the webpage. Also, your tone is nicely overdriven while retaining clarity. I liked everything about this.

I’m glad you posted John, I really enjoyed listening to your version. I liked how you picked most of the notes rather than just strumming them.

Wow John! That was great. You have such a beautiful, soft touch on the electric. I am truly inspired, but I’m not buying the bit about the technical problems. We are gonna want to see a vid real soon! 🙂

Hey John,
A super slick version and really enjoyed it. I hear the influences of Jimi Hendrix (hey Joe) and The Beatles (Don’t Let me Down) coming through, now that’s good company to be in!Cheers Bri

I am glad you could contribute, John. And what a gem you brought us here! Yep, some Jimi in there, but nothing wrong with that. I am wondering which guitar you played. But whichever one you chose, it was the right one – great crunchy tone! And superb playing, too. Really.

Great Job on this John. I could hear the Beatles and Jimi in it. Love the blues tone you have going.

Hi John, I also hear Jimi H. getting back in the air! Well done, I love the rusty tone and the fact that this is a complete other interpretation than the versions of EP146 I experienced before!

Hey John,
I somehow missed this, cool rendition. Lots of Jimmy influences?
Great sound as usual. I like the clear tone of your guitar. Good listening for sure.

John, that was great! Knowing how much you love Hendrix’s music, you must be really happy to be getting inside it like that. I couldn’t hear anything I could do with it, that’s why I didn’t participate this month. Both you and Duffy picked up on the “Don’t Let Me Down” changes (that’s one of my favorite Beatles songs), all I heard was Springsteen’s “Fire” and I didn’t want to deal with that.

John, great creativity with this challenge, and ditto what everone has commented.
Technical question, why does your soundcloud link not display as an embedded link, i.e. Play without leaving the page?

Wow John that was great. As said above I hear some JImi influence. Your chord riffs reminded me of Little Wing. Real nice playing.

Thought I’d check back and see if you ever posted…..A Ha!! I knew you couldn’t resist….Lucky for us.
Well thought out adaptation and blend of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Brian’s 2 chord lesson with a touch of Charjo. I liked your tone and groove….and as always, your articulate play. You and Duffy seemed to be thinking along similar lines. Very cool stuff…..Marty
