The only browser I have found that can download movies (and more importantly for me, audio) is Mozilla Firefox. For years I have use the free add-on (plug-in) called Video DownloadHelper, but more often lately it does’t work properly. Another add-on I have used for a year or so is called Flash Video Downloader, and it works just fine.
And if you see a video on Youtube and you think “I wish I could get the audio for that”, you can easily do it. Just make sure you download it as an MP4 file (you get to choose), then drag the MP4 file into Audacity. Audacity automatically loads just the audio. Then all you have to do is click Save, and you have it.
This is great, because lots of nice people have posted jamtracks they have made on YouTube and they fully intend to share them with you. So just do a search for – for example – The Thrill is Gone backing track, and you’ll find several.
