Heard on the radio today Doc Watson passed. Got a chance to see him when I was stationed in North Carolina. Amazing technique and sound using a pick.

    RIP Doc…

Darby, you’re very lucky. I never got to see him play live. Sure was a talent though – and an awesome clawhammer banjo player as well.

Doc Watson was an outstanding guitar and clawhammer banjo player. He was an outstanding person as well. I have a few
flat picking tunes by Doc that I have saved from guitar magazines. Although these tunes look simple to play, I will be the first
to say they take much time to get down pat. He brought the six string acoustic guitar to new respect playing blue grass. It is
very sad to see him pass away. R I P Doc, many musicians are sad you are no longer with us.

Brian and Darby, Thanks for the good words on Doc too.
It is very sad how many great musicians that have passed away this year such as Donald “Duck” Dunn, Ronnie Montrose, and Michael Hossack of the Doobie Brothers.
