Hi all,
The Stones recently released a compilation album of all their blues influences over the years. When it first got announced it got some heat on social media about it being a cash in for them. Many people said there’s been compilations done like this over the years and the stones doesn’t deserve to put their name on this material. Firstly the stones brought a lot of these names to light back in the 60s and secondly I don’t have something like this in my music collection. I was looking at getting some old blues artists on vinyl but wasn’t sure where to start in terms of albums and then there was a lot bad copies produced that were loud and crackly – Charlie Patton being one.
It was released on Friday but when I was in town over the weekend no one had it in store – shock! I went online and surprisingly Amazon had it a lot cheaper than other website so I ordered it. I ordered the x5 LP box set that comes with a book explaining all the artists and the beginning of the blues.
I am very impressed and happy with my box set. The songs are all sounds really clear and the volume between each track is perfect. The construction and the layout of the boxset is impressive. This will really kick start my collection of the more roots of the blues stuff in my vinyl collection…
