April 4, 2019 at 11:58 pm #129408
here another try, to copy a bit the great B.B. King. For qualified improvising my “internal-memory-storage-capacity-of-scales-riffs-and-licks” has not yet been filled enough, so I played note by note as usual. Actual it is a nice and easy Song, but I had some heavy difficulties only with the timing, especially with the varyied beginning of the 3 triplets and the last measures. (you can hear it and have a look at the attached sheet) I played it with my self-made Guitar without any effects.

BB is all about getting your mojo going and feel and it’s easy to sit back and listen too, your vibrato was very good.
Your guitar has some nice natural sustain to it and I thought overall it was a good submission.
I personally find it exceptionally difficult to add to Brian’s lesson you are not alone my friend

This sounded really good. You have a very nice basic tone, and when you focus on the vibrato, it is gorgeous. I wish you would use it more. For improvising, you need to stop thinking about being “qualified” and give yourself the freedom to make mistakes. This is about the most supportive group on the planet. There is probably no better place for you to try to push past what you think are your limits.

I really enjoyed that one Dieter, it’s a great slow blues to play with some slow purposeful bends which aren’t easy to get just right, but you did them extremely well.

Really enjoyed listening to that. You have great tone from both your guitar and your fingers. It had the sound and feel of BB King.

Nicely done, Dieter. That guitar sounds beautiful. I really liked your vibrato. One suggestion for you. I think some of the bends (perhaps not all) should be choked off at the peak. You let the pitch drop from peak on almost all the bends. Minor issue, have a listen and see what you think.

I too really enjoyed your playing on this one Dieter, personally I think that for us meer mortals to get anything sounding like Mr King the we have to add a little tremelo into the mix.
Well played thought out improvisation.

That’s a really good looking guitar you’ve created there, and it’s got an equally impressive sound without being modified by any effects. Nicely played rendition.

Nice playing, and you made the guitar! You’re like Les Paul.
I want to compliment your post of the gardens in your neighborhood. What a beautiful place to live. 😀

Nicely done Dieter! I especially liked the upper register vibrato sound, very much Like B.B. himself. – Bret

Nice BB sounds, good vibrato. If you can free yourself from reading the sheet (I know, it is difficult) you will find even more freedom to put into your voicing. Nice choice of lesson, I have to revisit that one.

Well played Dieter, nice tone and fluent phrasing. Self made guitar?? I’d like to know more about it (maybe you’ve already given details in a previous post that I missed). I’ve built two guitars from kits, one very cheap and one turned out to be rather expensive!!
You’re playing well and I enjoyed it very much.

Hey Dieter, that was excellent. Do not focus too much on your improvisation.
You should let your feelings run wild. I think that if you concentrate too much, you’re less free to play with your feelings. You are well advanced and do not have to do anything. Let your style run wild. It seems to me as if a wild animal were in the cage. Show it to us. Great!

Well played, Dieter. You captured the spirit of BB King. That’s one of my favorite lessons. And I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who uses a music stand.

B.B is always a tough one I guess, but good effort Dieter!

Sounds with a perfect tempo to me and this is a must for this kind of blues.
Your bendings are excelent, really.
my only suggestion would be to improve your mixing, but this is out-of-guitar bussines.
again …impressed by your sense of tempo.
really well done

Cool dieter. Felt like I was sitting in a bar drinking after my woman just left me.

Nice clean playing Dieter! May I suggest that you post a detailed presentation of your self-made guitar. Such a nice clean tone is heaven’s gift! Phil

Some real sweet blues playing, Dieter. Great BB licks and nice mixing of the major and minor pentatonic. Well done!
