Does anyone know if Brian used and talked about the Boss Katana 50 in one of his lessons? I had
thought he had said that many of the musicians in Nashville were using this for gigs. Would like to know
lesson number if he did or what other amp he was talking about in the lesson. -

Thanks Jola for your response, you have been very helpful. I have heard good reviews about this amp.
After viewing the lesson again, I think Brian sealed the deal. -

🙂Before I even replied , I took the honor to type in the search box on the site “Boss Katana ” regardless of the watts,, nothing found..
I wasn’t looking for evidence and yeah that be very a straight forward reply,so yes Jola , just found it very weird you were quick to respond to a newbies inquiry so fast ..

Well, John, I didn’t research, I just knew the answer to that. I’m a big fan of Brian and I watch every lesson. I wish I could learn and play every lesson like you but I do actually watch every lesson and still learn some bits and pieces.
Now, you are quick to point out “newbies” based on their post/reply numbers but you must realize that only a small percentage of members are actually active on the Forum… I’m sure there’s a good number of folks who have been AM members for longer than yourself but they just never post anything.

Hi Zep. Just got the Boss Katana 50 MK II for Christmas and set it up today. Quite an amp for the money. This may be a keeper.

Hard to believe that an amp with all of that capability is as cheap as it is……
Boss & Roland has been making amps and effects for many years so we know its a quality piece of equipment

Hey Keith, it really is incredible. They were blowing the “old” series 2 out the door new for $179 and the Mk II, with the new hardware, for $229.

And to point out, you can also do the same thing with software and a DAW. Basically, it’s the same result with different paths to the objective.
Using an amp to model a sound is still using software, albeit, it’s hard coded on a chip, as opposed to the latter, a DAW and a plugin. The big difference is price. The DAW/plugin approach is a LOT cheaper than the hardware approach. Both approaches produce the same result.
However, getting that result depends on the person’s requirement for the result. Meaning, what is easier to achieve the goal ? Learning the software or the hardware?
Personally, I went for both approaches. I have the hardware and the software.. hey, it’s like a tool box with all the right wrenches.. 🙂
Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you can't get it wrong.

And by having both, you have a nice amp to jam with your buddies when the time comes………

That pedal show featured one recently in their budget challenge I thought the sound they got out of the rig was pretty good

I think it’s a cool 12 ” 50 watt solid state amp for the $ ..if I needed another discount simulator amp .. should be loud enough for a practice jamming amp
