Absolutely amazing !!!! – Good bang for the buck. Worth every penny and a lot more. I quickly reviewed the course this evening and Brian has it jam packed. There was obviously hours of work put into this professional production.
Cheers

I’m interested in purchasing the Blues Lead course but I have a couple of questions:
1. Is this all new material, a remix of the existing lessons, or a combination?
2. Is the course a big zip file download or DVDs?Steve

All new material and it’s a course you log into with videos that are embedded into the pages. It’s basically it’s own website. That being said you can still download all of the material as well if you need to.

By the way, thanks Jim for the kind words! I really appreciate it. Let me know if you run into any issues along the way.

That media format seems a bit cleaner than others I purchased where the buyer downloads a zip file, extracts quick time videos and pdf pages of tabs.
Waiting for payday,

Looking forwards to getting a hold of this course. Sadly, will have to wait a few more weeks as March is the month that I have to pay my golf club dues (ouch!)
Still, got plenty to work on meantime with the great new Delta Blues lessons :-))

I went through the entire course yesterday, started around 10 AM and finished around 11 PM. I didn’t intend to do that but the licks are so good i couldn’t wait to see to see what was next! Of course I will have to go through it several more times, by no means have I mastered or retained even a third of the material.
The format is great-insant access- you don’t have to download anything-unless you want to. So far I’ve only downloaded the 3 jam tracks.
The rest of the course is simply waiting for me on Brian’s website! I love not having to download zip files or waiting for DVD’s to come in the mail.Brian’s presentation is excellent-he get’s right to the point, but takes his times demo’ing the lick, yet he doesn’t take so much time that it becomes tedious. I have found that some online instructors are way to wordy and go into excruciating detail over each note.
I would say that the course strikes a good balance in degree of difficulty. If I HAD to describe it in one word though I would say it’s for intermediate players. YMV.
Nice work Brian, I feel I got a great product for my money!

Awesome catfish! Thanks! Glad the pacing is right and it’s captivating enough to lure you through it 🙂 I always worry about pace (more than just about anything) and it’s taken me a few years to figure out how to try and get to the point without leaving out detail. I always try and think of what it’s like for someone the SECOND time they watch. Anyway, that’s very good feedback and I appreciate you saying that.

Brian,
Is there some kind of demo of this course? I would love to start with it, but I’m not sure if it’s on my level. Can I compair this course with the Simple Blues Guitar Lick – 1 (Chuck Berry Style) lesson? I had no problemens completing that lesson and it was easy for me to follow.

@Frangster – I don’t have a demo per se, although there is a video that you can watch on this page – Blues Lead Guitar Course. The video shows various highlights from the course. Also yes if you were able to follow the Chuck Berry guitar lesson, most of this would be easy for you.

I just purchased the course a couple hours ago and played the first couple licks, then took a peek at some of the others. Looks like I can learn quite a bit of it soon. Nice to have the resource as I grow. I started out with a cheap guitar and a cheap amp so if I didn’t wind up liking it I could bail out easy. I’m liking learning the guitar so I think some of these licks will be cool to play on any guitars I might be thinking about buying in the future to check the sound. Four hours of instruction locally is $140($17/half hour). Anyone who can master these lessons is getting quite a good deal. Im looking at ways to start out without having to drive, and pay, and schedule, and find time. This course is one of those ways for me.

Brian
Im basically new to guitar, would I be able to learn from the blues course or is it too hard for a beginner, remember Im the one who asked you about getting the tabliture to the video on major and minor pentatonic scale lesson. (not the tab to the scale, but the improvised part of it) I still wish you could get the tab for that, I love that sound you make, I have yet to hear anyone else play it like that,
say the word and I buy, lol

Dansurf, yeah this course would be beneficial to a beginner for sure. In fact, I tried to really assume you know nothing about how to play a blues solo and walk you through the various patterns, and show how to play the same lick across different styles and different keys. Of the 43 licks I’d say around half of them are something that a beginner could do technically – the other ones you can do over time (with some practice).

Brian, as a very beginner , should I first learn alternate picking method before tackling the Blues Lead guitar course ?
-
May 21, 2012 at 5:03 am #8035
You don’t have to – but you should definitely work on alternate picking. I have a lesson or 2 on it in the beginner guitar course

Wow, just bought the Blues Lead Guitar Course and it looks very extensive! So much good quality material.
Love the HD quality videos. Well worth it !!! I am first starting off with the Free beginners course, brushing up before
taking on this wonderful Blues Guitar Course. Interestingly enough Im mostly into Led Zeppelin acoustic/rock and not really into blues, but
Brian’s playing style is very interesting and very pleasing to the ear and makes me want to play blues. Look froward to great lessons ahead. Thanks for the nice work. -

Thanks dansurf – I’m glad it’s met your expectations. Feel free to hit me with questions if you have them.

After about a couple months with this course, I can say that Im very happy with it, Im a very beginner level, so I don’t expect to sound as good as Brian, but his teaching style is very nice, this is one of those courses that even a beginner can greatly benefit from, and advanced can learn from, just this course alone will take me the whole summer to learn,.
My only regret is that Brian is not putting out more of these Blues courses, lol. It would be nice,

The blues guitar course can be located here. It’s $45 and contains pretty much everything you’ll need to get started playing lead blues guitar. It’s available online only though, no DVDs at this point.
As for free courses, they are now available for $5 (for all of them), one time fee.

I’ve played various other instruments for years, but am new to the guitar; and self-taught at that; which prompted me to get the course. The cost was low and if any, there would be little loss on my part. Despite wondering if it might not be too elementary for me, it didn’t take me long to realize I made the right choice. The teaching was well done and, if anything, the library of licks alone is worth the purchase.
What I liked was it wasn’t a simple copy what you see on screen and past it onto your own fretboard type of instruction, but rather did a good job of introducing techniques allowing one to easily come up with their own licks and solos. It is that kind of independent thought that makes up the difference between playing a piece and making music.
With much gratitude,
Michael -

Brian,
I want to know if the backing track chords for the rhythm are also taught on the ‘Blues Lead Guitar’ course. Are those chords and strumming patterns included even if just as a quick go-over?
Thanks,
Jason

Hey Jason, this course focuses on the lead. I do include 3 jam tracks in different styles (and even different keys), but I don’t show how to play those rhythm parts, they were just made for accompaniment.

Thanks Brian… are they primarily C, D, and G bar chords in the ‘Guitar Solo Tip: You don’t have to change scales when the chords change – EP016’ backing track?
Thanks for your help.
Jason
