“Lucky You” is the title track from his CD, a take-off on Jody Williams’ “Lucky Lou” (that song has the same melody as Otis Rush’s “All Your Love”). Bill also got some inspiration from late-career wah action of Earl Hooker (there are several direct quotes from Earl Hooker songs on here).
Here’s his cover of Joe Liggins’ “Tanya,” which has also been covered by Earl Hooker and King Curtis. Oh man, this is good!
Here are the rest of SoundCloud tracks.
That’s him on the Tele.
Rockin’ Johnny Burgin on the left, Bill on the right.
If you live in southern California, he gigs pretty regularly. Coming up on Saturday, May 2, he’ll be backing Tail Dragger, along with Johnny Burgin and band, at the 37th Annual Topanga Blues Festival. He also regularly gigs with Rock Bottom Blues All-Stars and the Silver Kings.
