I’m in Northwest Baltimore and starting to play a little. It would be interesting and fun to try and play with others. I’m presently just hanging out with major and minor pentatonic.

Not many replies. Sad. I’m in NE Baltimore & would be in the intermediate catagory (accustic) guitar player & thought for a while that playing with someone else would be beneficial. I was really looking for someone a bit more advanced then myself in order to combine learning & playing. What genre of music are you into? When you say N.W. Baltimore what community are you in? Lets talk. It may not work out but lets discuss ot!

Hello Bud G. Thanks for responding.
I’m probably also in the intermediate range and play an accoustic steel string. I’m semi retired, and am 66 yrs. young. I played through high school, mostly folk-rock, eg. Dylan, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Jefferson Springfield. I’ve always been a Dead fan, and Clapton. I enjoy the blues, and much of what Brian teaches.
My guitar sat in its case for about 25 years because I was bored with my playing. Picked it up again about a year ago. I still feel a bit rusty due to not having enough time to practice.
What community am I in? Not exactly sure what you mean. I live near the Reisterstown Road Plaza. I’m a Jew, so I’m part of the Jewish community here in NW Baltimore.
Having said all that, if you’re interested in getting together sometime, my wife reminds me that it will have to wait till we can meet outside due to Covid, or till after the plague passes.
🙂

Sorry for the delay, it’s been busy around here. Yes, I’m interested & agree with your wife, it may be awhile. My experience is similar to yours only I started music lessons after I retired, 7 yrs ago, & got a heavy dose of theory & jazz playing but that didn’t hit my “soft” spot. I stopped the lessons 1 1/2 – 2 yrs ago & found Brian’s site, Active Melody. After wondering around I’m finally looking seriously @ riffs & licks & working them into my catalog of backing tracks. Lets keep in touch & plan a casual sitdown after we receive our vaccine shots.

Add on comment: I live across town in N.E. Baltimore off Loch Raven Blvd close to the Baltimore County line.

Hi Bud,
I think a casual sit down would be great. Off of Loch Raven is no problem, and I live 1/2 block off of Reisterstown Road in the city, across from the Reisterstown Road Plaza. So let us file it away and hopefully get back with each other soon.
Take care, and let us both keep strumming. I just listened to Brian’s EP374 and EP375. Very interesting. Modes 1 and 2. Got to first practice the whole major scale.

I’m familiar with the area, so no problems there. Speaking about scales ( major & minor), 1 of my main problems is not not knowing the 5 pentatonic & 7 diatonic scales, it’s moving smoothly thru them to create the different voicings they offer ie: going from pattern 1 to pattern 3 or 4 smoothly & in time. Just needs more work. Anyway, lets keep in touch until this “plague” is over.

Robert R, I’ve had both shots & am ready to talk about getting together to see if we can do our “music” thing together! I assume you’ve had your shots so when you have time let me know! Thanks

Hi Bud G. Good to hear from you. Yes, I’ve had both shots, as well as the Covid itself.
This is what my schedule looks like. Right now the times I have available would be on a Sunday, Monday, or Friday afternoon. My preference would be on a Sunday, but you let me know.

Robert, sorry to hear you had the covid illness & glad you’re well. My get together preference would be not Sunday as it’s summer & yard is done on the weekends. Monday meetups are good for me. I go to the gym Monday, Wednesday & Friday AM so afternoon would be perfect! Give me your best time! Next contact, call me. It’s easier to communicate on the phone. My # is 410-435-8639! I’ll let my wife know you’re going to call so she doesn’t hang up on you thinking it’s another “scam” call! Good to hear from you!

Hey guys,
I’m in Westminster and I work in Sykesville. I’d love to join in and jam a little. I mainly play the blues and the Grateful Dead. I’m an intermediate player. Let me know!
